Breadth, challenge and enjoyment, coherence, depth, personalisation and choice, progression and relevance will be secured through subjects, interdisciplinary learning, , opportunities for personal achievement and the life and ethos of the school community. All pupils will experience learning opportunities to at least 3rd level in all curriculum areas by the end of S2. All pupils will enjoy 2 RE, 2 PE, 1 HWB and 1 IDL which will develop literacy, numeracy, enterprise and employability skills. Learning will be built around 3rd and 4th outcomes and experiences and will provide a firm foundation for the senior phase. Interdisciplinary Learning will progress skills for learning, life and work including study skills, employability and higher order thinking skills. All pupils will enjoy 2 RE, 2 PE and 1 HWB. Interdisciplinary Learning will progress skills for learning, life and work including study skills, employability, vocational education and higher order thinking skills. All pupils will enjoy 2 RE, 2 PE and 1 HWB. Each course will be allocated a minimum of 5 periods with Higher English and Higher Mathematics allocated 6 periods. It is anticipated that the majority of young people will choose to study five national qualification courses. This will enable young people to choose from a wide range of options in their “free” column. This could include SQA units from a range of curriculum areas, health and wellbeing courses, PE, personal development courses, voluntary work, supporting young learners in a classroom assistant role, work experience, vocational tasters, preparation for university, Caritas and charity work. Further to this, a range of special interest options including, for example, debating, enterprise, leadership, practical cookery, creative writing, journalism, public speaking, astronomy, painting, samba drums, SPTA Television Station, SPTA webpage design, practical craft, performing arts will be offered across the columns greatly enhancing a range of learning, life and work skills.
