St. Christina School Newsletter October 22, 2015 Classroom Highlights Kindergarten, Rm 18 - Breanna Kilroy was our Sixth Student of the Week. She can ride a two wheeler and is the water girl for our St. Christina football team. Bre had a great conversation and lunch with Abby and Mrs. Johnson. A big THANK YOU to Firefighter and Mrs. Murphy for showing us how to be safe if there is a fire. We finished our study of Fire Safety with a Fire Engine Bingo. What fun! Grade 8 - After reading the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, the students wrote poems to summarize their feelings about the characters. Dan Hackett would like to share his thoughts about Anne. Anne Frank Anne Frank’s life was full of fear, She lived a secret life for a few years. She was brave and strong, Through the ordeal that was long. She looked sweet and kind, But had a strong mind. She expressed herself in her diary, Her words were so fiery. We will never forget, The little girl that we never met. The CC has developed and maintains a grassroots email advocacy network called the Illinois Catholic Advocacy Network, or I-CAN for short. The Catholic Conference sends out occasional emails to I-CAN subscribers in an effort to keep lay Catholics informed about state and federal issues that impact the Church and her mission. Monday – “Say, Peace Out to Drugs!” (Wear 60’s clothing or tie-dye) Tuesday – “Voting for My Future to be Drug Free!” (Wear red, white and blue) Wednesday – “BLACK out Drugs!” (Wear black clothing) Thursday – “Saying No to Drugs is No Sweat!” (Wear sweatpants, sweatshirt, gym uniform) Friday – “Say BOO to Drugs!” (Preschool – 2nd grade wear Halloween costumes. Grades 3rd -8th wear orange and black) Other Fun Activities… “Life is Sweet, Drug Free!” Candy Guessing Contest Students will receive red ribbons on Monday to be worn each day of the week. We will call names at random at the end of each day and if they are wearing their red ribbon they will win a prize! Parent Teacher Conferences Dear Parents, We are beginning our scheduling for the Parent Teacher Conferences, which will be held on Monday, November 23rd for students in grades Pre 3 through Grade 8. In order to accommodate all families we are asking that you be as flexible as possible. Before scheduling we ask that you indicate below which time frame is best for you. We will try to give you your selection if possible. Please return this form by Monday, October 26, 2015. It is very difficult and sometimes impossible to change a scheduled time once the scheduling is completed. Please take time to fill out and return the form. All families without a form will be placed in any open spots. This means, perhaps, that your children may not be scheduled near the same time. Reminder: There will be a 12:40 dismissal on Conference Day, November 23 Thank you.
