Reckamp’s TOP 5 WAYS TO SUCCEED IN PRE-ALGEBRA THIS YEAR!!!
1. Be prepared for class every day.
This includes:
 Bringing homework to class everyday with ALL WORK
SHOWN!!!
 CHECKING AND CORRECTING your homework in colored ink
daily.
 Sharpening your pencil BEFORE class.
 Being attentive and ready to learn.
2. Work cooperatively with your classmates.
“TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More”
Most times you will work on warm-up exercises, math activities, and
brain game with your team. There may even be times when you are able
to work on quizzes with each other. The goal is for you to be each other’s
support network. We work together in my classroom to achieve our goals
and reach success!!!
3. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Asking questions is how we learn. Asking questions helps me know
when I need to revisit a concept so that you understand it better. If you
knew everything you needed to know in 6th grade already, we wouldn’t be
here. So, ask away! Just remember that your questions should benefit our
learning. Please raise your hand. Teachers are available during advisory
time to help you, and some teachers are available before and/or after-school.
4. Take good notes.
Note-taking is one of the essential skills we will be working on in
our classroom. Of course I will guide you through it each day, but you have
to be responsible and follow along. These notes will help prepare you for
daily lessons, quizzes, and tests, as well as becoming an independent learner.
5. Listen.
Listening is key. It is important that you listen to the teacher, as
well as your fellow classmates. The students on our team will have questions
and answers that will help you to better understand the material. Directions
need to be followed the first time they are given.
