Powell Gardens Development Coordinator Powell Gardens is seeking a Development Coordinator to provide leadership and professional expertise in the management of Powell Gardens’ annual fundraising events and the Friends of Powell Gardens’ membership program. The Development Coordinator provides support for Powell Gardens’ fundraising and membership efforts. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Development to assist with fundraising activities including donor relations, fundraising events, and other fund development activities. The duties include assisting with donor recruitment, cultivation, retention, stewardship and appreciation. Additionally, the position provides administrative support for the donor database, mailings, acknowledgements, recognitions, and other communications. Event Management: The Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning and logistics management for Powell Garden’s two signature fundraising events, Under a Blue Moon and Under a Harvest Moon. The Development Coordinator works closely with an elite group of volunteers to create and execute the two unique fundraising events to benefit Powell Gardens. Duties include, but are not limited to: Organize event logistics including: timelines, budgets, production of collateral materials, and fulfillment of volunteer needs. Interface with staff, volunteers, and vendors, including rental companies, caterers, and photographers to ensure the execution of high-quality events. Responsible for the solicitation of items for and coordination and promotion of the live and silent auctions. Provide event/progress reports, as needed, to committees and boards. Lead and participate in discussions regarding strategies, opportunities and other issues related to a successful event production. Facilitate post-event discussions to analyze and assess the opportunities for improving events each year * Hours will include evenings and weekends as necessary. Friends of Powell Gardens Membership Management: The Coordinator will oversee all of the functions of membership services including recruiting and training volunteers to serve in membership recruitment efforts, and working with the Friends of Powell Gardens to achieve membership goals. Duties include, but are not limited to: Overall responsibility for the membership strategies and efforts including acquisition, renewal, and retention occurring through mail, web, social marketing, and special events. Identify new areas for growth in membership and membership revenue, including higher retention rates; and increased average gifts. Develop and coordinate monthly membership events. Prepare monthly membership report for the Friends of Powell Gardens board. Engage Friends of Powell Gardens board members in recruitment and retention efforts. Conduct an analysis of the annual membership campaigns to assess the areas of success and opportunities for growth. Assist as needed with member fulfillment packages including membership card, welcome letter, reciprocal list, events calendar, etc. * Hours will include evenings and weekends as necessary for Friends events and Powell Gradens’ Festivals. Donor Communication and Cultivation: In conjunction with the Director of Development, maintain and further develop meaningful relationships with existing donors. Develop strategies for recruiting and cultivating new donors. Assist the Development Director in conducting foundation research for new potential sources of grant funding and monitor cycles of current/past supporters. Assist the Director of Development in writing and submitting grant proposals according to the funder’s guidelines. Ensure that all volunteers are thanked and acknowledged in a timely manner. Compose and send donor acknowledgement letters in a timely manner. Boards and Committee Involvement: Serve as liaison between the Powell Gardens development department and the Friends of Powell Gardens board of directors, attending quarterly executive committee meetings and board meetings. Serve as the liaison between the special event committees and the development department, attending all event committee meetings. Database Management: Assist the office manager in maintaining accurate donor and member records in Raisers Edge. Responsible for the entry and management of all event guests and auction items into AuctionMaestro Pro. Required Skills: The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, flexible, creative, self-motivated and extremely organized individual. This individual will demonstrate the ability to operate within a team as well as to work independently with minimal supervision. This position requires excellent time management, project management and organizational skills. Strong detail orientation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to work flexible hours. Some evenings and weekends required. Qualifications: 1. Undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field. 2. Fundraising or customer service and event planning/management experience preferred. 3.
