The following plan of action was chalked out by IQAC for the Session
2007-08
1. To initiate faculty and students’ collaborative activities, like seminars,
presentations, quiz competitions etc on regular basis.
2. Improving the teaching learning process by actively involving the
students in project works, home assignments and group discussions
etc.
3. To generate more opportunities for placement of students in corporate
houses.
4. To give a fillip to the cultural & sports activities in the campus so as to
harness the innate creative talent of the students to its full potential.

1.
Activities Reflecting the Goals and Objectives of the College.
Seminar on "Computer Viruses" was organized by the Computer
Science Dept. on 24th September, 2007 in which students of BCA-I
participated. The Resource person on this occasion was Prof. Lalit
Sen from the Department of Computer Sciences, University of
Jammu.
ii)
Seminar on "Wireless Communication" was organized in the College
on 11th October, 2007. Prof. Pavnesh Abrol from Computer
Sciences, University of Jammu delivered the key note address.
iii) On-Campus Event (Career Counseling) was organized in the college
on 12th December, 2007 by the Department of Computer Sciences to
help students identify their aspirations and goals and to have an idea
of the job market.
iv)
College celebrated its Annual Day on 16th December, 2007 in which
Hon' ble Dy. C.M. Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma was the Chief Guest.
Cultural Programme was presented and students with best
performance in sports, academics and cultural activities were
honoured.
v)
Environment Awareness Programme was conducted in the College
on 6th February, 2008, as proposed by the Government of Jammu
and Kashmir. Various events like debates, painting competitions and
essay writing competition were organized to create awareness among
the students/masses on the theme of Environmental protection.
vi) A workshop on Cyber Crimes and Ethical Hacking was organized on
16th January, 2008. The Resource persons were Mr. Anoop Girdhar
from Sedulity Solutions and Technology, New Delhi and Prof. Lalit
Sen from University of Jammu.
vii) Three day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) was jointly
organized by G.G.M Science College and J&K Industrial and
Technical Consultancy Organization (ITCO) Ltd. Jammu, under the
sponsorship of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of
India, on 12/02/08 to 14/02/2008 for
B.Sc.-III and BCA- III
students.

Innovations in curricular design and transaction.
The College is affiliated to University of Jammu, and adopts the
programmes and curricula approved by the University. The
College faculty has very limited access to the framing and
designing of the courses except that some suggestions are given at
the time of meeting of Board of Studies. These meetings are
organized by the University from time to time.
At the College Level to make teaching-learning more effective,
seminars, Quiz, Guest Lectures are organized and use of
multimedia has also been encouraged.

Examination reforms implemented.
External Examination is conducted by the University of Jammu
according to a set pattern but internal assessment examinations are
conducted by the College twice a year as per the institutional
calendar, proper date sheet for the internal assessment test is
framed and display well in advance. The students are also
encouraged to go through the evaluated answer scripts for a proper
feedback of the students.

The College, through its NSS & NCC Units is involved in community
services, such as population education, literacy drives/adult education,
vigilance awareness, tree plantation, health & family welfare programmes,
civil defence, Blood Donation, Environment Awareness and Communal
Hormony & Peace Programmes.
NSS operates through two units of 100 volunteers each under the guidance
of trained programme officers

Computer facilities are available to the teachers to facilitate their teaching

The Parent- Teacher Association has not been formed yet. However, the
institution is planning to organized a parent teacher meet shortly.
32. Health Services.
To ensure the availability of basic medical facility for the students, a small
medical dispensary is functioning under the supervision of an experienced
pharmacist. This dispensary maintains necessary stock of medicines and
other related items for first aid.
33. Performance in Sport Activities
The College has a large sports infrastructure which includes a cricket ground
with properly laid turf, a hockey field and a football field, besides an indoor
hall and a number of other courts for basketball, volleyball, tennis,
badminton etc. The department is manned by a qualified staff. The activities
of the department are monitored by the college sports board.

Incentives to Outstanding Sportspersons.
Outstanding sportspersons are provided with all the necessary facilities
like equipment, kits/uniforms, travelling allowance and refreshment
during training as well as during the conduct of tournaments. Best

Activities of the Guidance and Counseling unit:
1. Scholarship Aptitude Test was conducted by the STIC Finance
Group on 3rd December, 2007 with the aim of helping students to
become IT & E-accountancy Professionals.
2. A Campus selection Programme was organized in the Department
of Computer Science on 18th December, 2007. Seven students were
selected as trainees for the period of 8-9 weeks. Later, they were
selected as Process Associate with GENPACT "Global Business
Impact" Genpact India.
3. On-Campus Event (Career Counseling) was held on 12th
December,
2007, by the Department of Computer Science of the College to
help students identify their values, aspirations and goals.
4. An interactive session on "Career Prospects in IBM Daksh" was
organized
by IBM Daksh for B.Sc.- III students of G.G.M.
Science College on 14th January, 2008. The programme was aimed
at preparing the students for a successful BPO career.

A placement drive was conducted in the campus in Dec 2007 by Genpact
Global Business Impact “ Genpact India” and IBM . A total of 15 students
were offered placement by these two companies as process associates.

Katra from 12th October, 2007 to 18th Oct, 2007

2. IRC (International Resource Cell) organized two workshops on 29th
Oct, 07 followed by films screening on 30th October, 2007 in the
administration block of University of Jammu in which three students
from G.G.M. Science College participated.
3. As an initiative to introduce "Theatre" in colleges, a "Theatre
workshop" and an exclusive festival of plays was organized by Natrang
in which students of our College gave their performance on 31st
October, 2007. This programme was sponsored by North Zone Cultural
Centre, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
4. To commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Sh. V.R. Khajuria, a
renowned and eminent artist of the state, Viraj Kala Kendra, Gandhi
Nagar organized some events in which students from G.G.M Science
College participated in painting competition on "Aids and
Environment" held on 3rd Dec., 2007.
5. Students of G.G.M. Science College participated in 92.7 FM Contest
held at G.M.C. Jammu, from 12th February to 15th February 2008.

various items like Mimicry, Hindi Solo, Western Solo, Skit etc.

The Women Study Centre of the College organized various
activities throughout the session:
A Seminar on "Reproductive Health and Nutrition" was organized
on 4th July, 2007 in the Conference Hall of G.G.M Science
College, Jammu. The guests were Dr. Poonam Dhawan, Director ,
Women Study Centre , University of Jammu and Dr. Chanchal
Gupta, H.O.D Gynecology from Govt. Medical College, Jammu.
Dr. Sadhna Sharma Department of Gynecology, Prof. Neeru Gupta
Department of Physiology, Govt. Medical College, Jammu & Prof.
Hemla Aggarwal from Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar,
Jammu were the resource persons. The participants were the
students and faculty from different colleges of Jammu Province.
A two-day workshop on "Content Analysis of the Science Syllabi
towards Women" was organized on 11th and 12th July, 2007, in
which Director Colleges Development Council, University of
Jammu, Dr. Meenakshi Kilam and Director, Women Study Centre,
University of Jammu, Dr. Poonam Dhawan were the Guests. The
aim of the workshop was to study gender bias present in science
books.
One day Gender Sensitizing Awareness Camp was organized in
Kendrya Vidyala, Sunjawan on 9th August 2007. In this camp the
students of 11th and 12th class were given lectures on gender
sensitization. The participants were students and faculty from
various schools and the resource persons from different colleges.
Another one-day Gender Sensitization Awareness Camp was held
in K.V. Bantalab on 16th August, 2007. The participants were
students and faculty and the Resource Persons were Dr. Pooam
Dhawan, Prof. Madhu Gupta and Dr. Sandhya Sankyadhar.
A one-day seminar on "Cyber Crime and Women" was organized
on 29th September, 2007. Dr. Poonam Dhawan, Director CWS,

University of Jammu and Dr. Devanand Padha, H.O.D Computer
Sciences, University of Jammu were the guests on the occasion.
The Resource Persons were Prof. Pavnesh Abrol, Prof. Lalit Sain
from the Department of Computer Science, University of Jammu
and Dr. Bhawana Arora from the Computer Department of Model
Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jammu.

A one day seminar on Women’s Health and Nutrition was held on
7th February 2008, in which the students and faculty from all the
colleges of Jammu District participated. Resource Persons were
from Jammu Medical College, Associated Hospitals and Acharya
Shri Chandra Chinar Medical College, Jammu.
