To conduct remedial classes for weaker students of the college. To inculcate civic responsibilities among the students through NCC/NSS/Red Cross Units. Further improvement in sports facility; sending of proposal for further grants for the same. Proposals to be sent for additional grant to the college under UGC scheme. Installation of Internet facility in the college campus under ICT-NME scheme. Connecting the College Internet to INFLIBNET thereby providing access to Research journals and e-books for the benefit of faculty as well as students. Continuing with the students’ group insurance policy. 2 Part- B 1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the college. The College organized a series of programmes and participated in various activities to achieve academic excellence, to make learning relevant as per the present needs and to prepare the students for emerging global challenges by incorporating the use of latest technology. The activities also promote the community services and expose the students to human, social and environmental problems. 1. Extension lecture in Physics Department was organized on 6th May 2010. Prof. C.M. Kamotra an alumni of the College , was the resource person. 2. A Personality Development Course was organized from31 May -10th June, 2010 . Dr. P.S Pathania, Registrar , University of Jammu was the Chief Guest in the inaugural function. 3. A plantation drive was undertaken in the campus on 29th July 2010. Jb. Abdul Ghani Malik, Minister for Higher Education was dignitary to plant the first sapling on the occasion. 4. Workshop on NAAC Accreditation & Re-accreditation for Principals & IQAC co-ordinators organized on 20-21st August 2010 in collaboration with Higher Education Department. 5. A Personality Development Course was organized for the students from 30 August - 8th September 2010. 6. Inter College Football Tournament was organized from 13th-19th September 2010. Prof. Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the guest of honour in the valedictory function. 7. Awareness lecture on Dengue/Swine flue was organized on 22nd September 2010 by Urban Malaria Control Department, J&K. 8. Workshop on Development of Personality through adventure sports held on 22nd Sept 2010 conducted by Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering , Gulmarg. 9. Seminar on Moral & Ethical Values held on 29 Sept 2010 in collaboration with Vichar Kranti Manch International. 10. WKSP/Seminar/Interactive Sessions & Poster making on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti organized on 2nd-4th October 2010. Sh Sohail Kazmi an eminent Urdu journalist was the Chief Guest on the occasion. 3 11. Lecture on “Art of Tension free living & key to success in life” held on 4th October 2010 with resource person from Prajapita Brahma Kumaris. 12. Workshop cum traning on “Disaster Management” organized from 19th23rd October 2010 in collaboration with Civil Defence Department. 13. Intercollegiate seminar on “ Contribution of Smt. Indira Gandhi to the emergence of a strong India” held on 31st October 2010 in collaboration with Gandhi Global Family (J&K Chapter) on the occasion of Smt. Gandhiji’s 26th death anniversary . The Chief Guest on the occasion was Minister of State for Higher Education Dr. Manohar Lal. 14. Interactive lecture on “Change of Management in Higher Education organized on 23rd November 2010. Prof. Jaya Indersen, from IIT New Delhi was the resource person.. 15. Workshop on “Women study centre empowerment – pathway to socioeconomic and psychological development of the society” on 27th November 2010. Dr. Poonam Dhawan, Director WSC, University of Jammu was the chief resource person. The participants were drawn from all the educational institutions of Jammu Division. 16. Workshop on “ Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth” held on 30th November 2010. Minister for Sheep and Animal Husbandry and Information Technology, Agha Syed Ruhullah was the chief guest on the occasion. 17. Inter College Lawn Tennis tournament organized from 20th - 23rd December 2010. Eight teams participated in the event and the final was played between Govt. M.A.M College and P.G team from University of Jammu. Director Physical Education, University of Jammu inaugurated the tournament. 18. Awareness Programme for “Anganwari workers on gender issues, nutrition, health and health services” held on 28th December 2010. It was attended by 60 workers and the teaching faculty from various institutions. Jenab A.G Malik, Minister for Higher Education inaugurated the workshop. Dr. S.L. Gupta, Director Colleges also graced the function. 19. Science Day was celebrated on 28th Feb 2011. A seminar cub interaction session was organized between science faculty members and science students from all the colleges from Jammu. 20. A science drama festival was organized in the college in collaboration with Department of Science and technology (DST) and students welfare society, Anantnag, J& K from 29-01-2011 to 02-02-2011. Eight different colleges of Jammu participated in the event. 4 2. New Academic Programmes initiated (UG and PG) UG Nil PG Nil 3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction The College is affiliated to University of Jammu, and adopts the programmes and curricula approved by the University. The College faculty has very limited access to framing and designing the course/programmes except that some suggestions are given at the time of meeting of Board of Studies. These meetings are organized by the University from time to time. At the College Level to make teaching-learning more effective, Seminars, Quiz, Guest Lectures are organized and use of multimedia has been encouraged. 4. Inter-discipline Programmes Started 5. Honours/Awards to the faculty Prof. Vishal Sharma & Prof. Vipul Saraf received 2nd Price in paper presentation “Anomalous Drain Source” in International Confernces on Nanosensora & Technology (ICNST- 2010) (CSIO, Chandigarh, 28th -30th Oct 2010. Prof. Vipul Saraf was chosen for the “Best Citizens of India Award” by International Publishing House, New Delhi. He was also awarded “Shiksha Rattan Puraskar” by his Excellency. Dr . Iqbal Singh Lt. 6 Governor of Pondicherry at a seminar on “Role of Education in Modern India”. Prof. Vishal Sharma, was selected as young scientist for participation in the academic lecture cum interactive session at the “Third science conclave: A congregation of Nobel laureates from 8th -14th Dec 2010 organized by IIT Allahabad. Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Physical Director was selected as a selector for under 22 age group cricket team for the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association. He is also a member of selection committee for University of Jammu for the session 2010-11. He continues to be a member of selection committee of J&K Services Selection Board of Physical Education Teachers of Jammu Province. 16. Internal resources generated: Nil 17. Community Services (NSS & NCC) The College, through its NSS & NCC Units is involved in community services, such as population education, literacy drives/adult education, vigilance awareness, tree plantation, health & family welfare programmes, civil defence, Blood Donation, Environment Awareness and Communal Harmony & Peace Programmes. The same is done by the Higher Education Department, J&K Govt through State Public Service Commission by following the set norms of advertising the posts, screening tests & interviews. Improvements in the library services Library being the nerve centre of institutional academic pursuits, there is always a need to enhance its performance by updating the facilities in terms of available books, journals, reprographic facilities etc. In view of this, the working hours of Library have been increased and many other measures have been initiated to make reading in the library a pleasure. Library now remains open from 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM. However, before annual examination, the working hours of library are extended upto 5 PM. 22. New books/journals subscribed and their value.
