By attending this workshop you will have increased or deepened your knowledge of trauma in general, PTSD in particular. You will have the opportunity to recognize clients who present with PTSD and trauma symptoms and gain more resources to work more effectively with these clients. You will also learn ways of managing your own possible secondary traumatization. 12th November – “Spiritual mentoring, spirituality and life stages” Tony Horsfall Most of us at some time will appreciate the help of a mentor or spiritual director as we transition from one stage of life to another. Sometimes we can be so absorbed in what is happening to us that we cannot discern clearly the way ahead, so having an objective and sensitive companion on our journey can be really helpful. This day will give an overview of the different life stages we all pass through, and highlight some of the qualities of those who can offer appropriate guidance in times of transition. We will focus on two of the major transitions in life: midlife, and growing older (retirement and beyond). These topics will be considered from a Christian perspective, and in particular look at how faith may inform us during times of change as well as be affected by transition. The day will be helpful for anyone involved in helping others on their life journey, as well as informative from a personal point of view. Tony Horsfall is an experienced retreat leader, spiritual director and writer. He has spent a lifetime in Christian ministry. His personal experience and work with others has underlined to him the significance of both the mid- life and post-retirement transitions for spiritual growth and formation.
