VAS 1 VOLUNTARY ACTION SHEFFIELD Business Growth Manager JOB DESCRIPTION Job Purpose Lead on business growth for VAS and work with managers and staff to sustain and develop VAS’s services and trading activity, identify opportunities and develop new activities, products and markets. Be responsible for business and financial planning, competitor and stakeholder analysis, partnership development, negotiation with funders and the development of bids, tenders and proposals, Contribute, as a member of VAS’s Senior Management Team, to strategic development, corporate management and business development in VAS. Line management where appropriate. Leadership and direction of the income generating aspects of VAS’s business which currently represent over 50% of turnover. . Accountability Accountable to VAS Chief Executive Accountable for (currently) Buildings & Facilities Manager, ICT Business Manager, Professional Services Manager Principal duties 1. Lead on business development and income generation across VAS in order to maximise opportunities and help to ensure we provide sustainable, customer focused services. Whilst this is an organisation-wide role, there will be a focus of areas which will benefit most from business development expertise and capacity within VAS. 2. Develop new trading and enterprise ideas into viable products and services, including developing service/product business plans and financial forecasts. 3. Identify and lead on bidding for tender/contract/funding opportunities to sustain and grow the services and products that VAS offers 4. Develop relationships with stakeholders including potential partners and funders. 5. Lead on contract negotiations and ensure sound contract management within VAS. 6. Meet income generation targets as required. 7. Lead on quality assurance, including achieving quality accreditation from external bodies 8. Work with the CEO, Finance Manager and Senior Management Team (SMT) to develop and monitor budgets, finance and trading. August 2015 VAS 2 9. With the CEO and Senior Management Team develop, implement and monitor VAS’s corporate business plan. 10. Work with the Chief Executive, Finance Manager, and Department Managers to achieve consistency and efficiencies across different activities (e.g. costs, pricing, marketing, customer support). 11. Represent VAS at relevant external meetings and partnerships, deputising for the Chief Executive as required. 12. Contribute to developing the effective promotion and marketing of VAS’s work, services, and products 13. Support senior managers and staff to maximise opportunities to generate income. 14. Provide effective line management including annual appraisal, regular supervision and performance management, and support training and development of staff. 15. .Prepare reports to VAS’s Board of trustees as required and attend Board and sub-committee meetings as required. Summary of Terms and Conditions Hours: 21 hours (with office hours 9.00 – 5.00). There may be some requirement to work outside of usual office hours and time off in lieu will be granted. Pay Scale: Up to c35k (£32,072- £34,894), negotiable dependent on experience (pro rata - full time equivalent hours are 35 per week) Leave: 25 days’ annual leave in addition to 11 statutory and additional holidays, pro rata for part-time staff. (There will also be a compulsory one week (pro rata) unpaid leave in 2015) Pension: VAS pension scheme with 6% employer contribution (and compulsory employee contribution in 2015) subject to successful completion of 3 month probationary period.
