Obviously there will be many concerns and questions that you may have, we will continue to update you in this publication or better still ring anytime *** SHEEP EID The following applies to movements made from 01.01.2011 – for sheep indentified since 1st January 2010 1. 2. Lambs/Hoggets destined for slaughter before they reach 12 months of age and identified with a single tag bearing flock mark (electronic or manual) These sheep can be recorded on movement documents as a batch. There is NO requirement to list all the flock numbers, even when a “batch within batch” consignment is moved. Lambs/ Hoggets (Stores) must be double tagged and must be electronic These sheep MUST be individually identified on the movement document, unless they are moving to Newark or any other approved CPRC (Central Point Recording Centre) where the tags will be read and recorded on behalf of the keeper. Keepers using the CPRC facility must populate their Holding Register with the read information within 48 hours of the sheep leaving their holding Holding Registers: 1. ALL sheep moved MUST be recorded in the keepers Holding Register “Keepers” include: farmers, dealers, markets, abattoirs etc. This has been a requirement since 31 st December 2009. Trade very favourable with finished returns and more could have been well sold. BREEDING CATTLE – 52 A decent entry of cows and calves on offer today with mostly older, leaner cows forward. Trade typical of the time of year and units would have looked decent value for money. Nice quality Limousin Cross Friesian 61 month old cows in calf to Limousin from Messrs S Pearson and Son, Dronfield sold to £1160. Ian Spendlove, Belper sold Simmental Cows 69 month old with 3 month old Aberdeen Angus Steer calves to £1150. STORE CATTLE – 267 A very decent entry on offer although first quality sorts very thin on the ground with plenty of cattle showing signs of the cold and wet weather. Trade definitely easier although strong quality sorts were still very well sold.
