Community Arts Palmerston North welcomes proposals from artists, groups or organisations who would like to exhibit their work at the Arts Centre Square Edge. Community Arts supports: Emerging artists & first time exhibitors New media artists and film makers Community projects New work by established artists Experimental, interactive and collaborative creative work GALLERY & EXHIBITION INFORMATION The Arts Centre’s ground floor offers a variety of options for artists: fx² (effects squared) – the digital art and performance space on the ground floor – offers a stage and a single screen projection wall for artists to show and stage their work. It seats up to 36 people and provides a fantastic opportunity for film, photography and all digital, acoustic and performing artists. It can be hired for one-off performances and screenings or longer events. SQUARE EDGE GALLERY – the activities area on the ground floor – offers four walls for artists to display their work. In addition, two movable walls are available if required. Usually exhibitions will be on display for three weeks incl. installation/de-installation. COMMUNITY ARTS SPACE – the entry to the ground floor – offers one large wall and two smaller walls adjacent to it. Displays will usually be on for three weeks incl. installation/de-installation, or by negotiation. Submitting a proposal Exhibition proposals must be submitted in writing with the completed Exhibition Proposal Application Form and the following materials listed below: Exhibition Summary - Brief summary outlining your proposed exhibition/display, related activities, space requirements, number and description of works to be presented. Exhibition Dates and Space - Your preferred exhibition dates and space, and how flexible you are if the preferred dates are not available. Work Samples - Samples of your recent work and, if possible, your proposed work for the exhibition – either as printed reproductions or copies on CD, DVD or via email. Sale Price - The sale price or high and low range of works in the proposed exhibition. Exhibition proposals for all spaces can be submitted at any time. You will be notified of a decision in writing. Community Arts offers the following exhibition support: Initial curatorial assistance Experienced assistance with installation, de-installation & technical requirements Free promotion & advertising Assistance with labels & invites Assistance with an opening event Prices include: Use of glasses, trestle tables and black tablecloths for opening event. Glasses must be returned cleaned. Food and drinks are the responsibility of the artist.
