DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 2.1 Abides by the Medical Staff By-Laws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department. 2.2 Carries out full range of clinical duties as assigned by the Director of Radiodiagnostic & Medical Imaging in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges. 2.3 Responsible for the maintenance of high standards of diagnostic examinations. 2.4 Responsible for the implementation of radiation protection procedures. 2.5 Responsible for consultation with medical staff on the radiological investigation of their patients in order to decide whether any examination requested is appropriate of necessary. 2.6 Rotates through each imaging sub-specialty as required by the Director of Radiodiagnostics & Medical Imaging and is expected to have sufficient breath of training to undertake this rotation. No: Date of Issue: Issue: Page: SMS/RMI/J 005 16/01/12 2 2 of 4 Consultant Interventional Radiologists JOB DESCRIPTION: (Cont’d.) 2.7 Will be required to attend all departmental meetings. 2.8 Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department. 2.9 Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the Director of Radiodiagnostics & Medical Imaging and Director of Postgraduate and Academic Affairs in planning a programme of career development for trainees. 2.10 Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Management Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable. 2.11 Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education. 2.12 Participates and/or actively supports approved research projects. 2.13 Deputizes for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues. 2.14 Participates in the forward planning, and further development of the department. 2.15 Serves on hospital committees as requested. 2.16 Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness. 2.17 Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated. 2.18 Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities. This is usually 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturdays to Wednesdays (Inc.) and 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays. 4.0 REQUIREMENTS: 4.1 4.2 4.3 Qualifications or Relevant Experience: 4.1.1 Graduate from a recognized medical school. 4.1.2 Saudi Board or equivalent higher qualification in Radiology. 4.1.3 Sub-specialty degree in Interventional Radiology. Personal Qualities: 4.2.1 Self-motivated and with awareness of current trends in the field. 4.2.2 Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. 4.2.3 Ability to speak, write and read Arabic and English. Experience: 4.3.1 Three (3) years specialized post higher qualification training/experience in Interventional Radiology in a recognized centre, of which a minimum of two (2) years must be at a Senior Registrar Interventional Radiology. 4.3.2 Publisher of original work, have participated and preferably led original research. 4.3.3 Experience in teaching and training.
