JOB DESCRIPTION:
1.0
JOB SUMMARY:
Achievement of the highest quality of radiological services consistent with resources of the
department and the programme.
The management and education/technical staff in the department.
2.0
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
2.1
Provides and maintains an efficient consultative, diagnostic and advisory service in
Radiology.
2.2
Responsible for the highest standard of radiological services for whom he will be
responsible.
2.3
Participates in the management of the physical and manpower resources of the
department to maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Liaising with the Chief
Radiographer as necessary.
2.4
Participates in the annual appraisal review of senior staff members in the
department. Also in the assessment of current staffing levels in his department and
recommends appropriate levels to the Clinical Director of Diagnostics and Medical
Director.
2.5
Participates in actively promoting and formulating teaching and training programmes
for medical, technical, nursing and other programmes staff.
2.6
Participates in the planning of further developments in the department and advises
on equipment needs, maintenance and replacement.
2.7
Undertakes a comprehensive on-going programme of Total Quality Management
Department (TQMD) which will ensure that standards are met and maintained.

Promotes and maintains the high standards of the discipline by continuing medical
education and the development of Radiology in the programme.
2.9
Participates in research and presentation of papers at national and international
conferences as appropriate.
2.10
Provides consultative and diagnostic services for other MODA facilities if requested,
in consultation with Clinical Director, Medical Director and Programme Director.
2.11
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his
knowledge, skills and abilities.
2.12
Implements any new functions and/or responsibilities as required by any
accreditation programme.
HOURS OF WORK:
The post-holder will work 48 hours per week. This is usually 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturdays to Wednesdays (Inc.) and 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursdays. They are also
committed to on-call duties, when required, not within the normal working hours.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications or Relevant Experience:
4.1.1
Membership or Fellowship or Board certification in Radiology (with or
without subspecialty like MRI, CT Scan, etc.) from Saudi Arabia, Europe,
USA, Canada or Egypt held for seven (7) years.
4.1.2
Higher degree in addition to the above qualifications eg. PhD, MD and
teaching experience (desirable) or additional training in one of the
subspecialty.
Personal Qualities:
4.2.1
Show strong leadership skills, good communication and ability to motivate
staff.

Experience:
4.3.1
Ten (10) years since basic medical qualifications.
4.3.2
Five (5) years in the specialty as a Consultant.
4.3.3
Published work, investigative or research.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
As laid down by the Hospital Programme and subject for amendment. Remuneration will
be commensurate with the category indicated above.
