Current Employee Contribution for Insurance Premium $152.93 per Month for Plan A $73.93 per Month for Plan B $21.93 per Month for Plan D District Paid HDHP BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Dean of Student Learning, this position is responsible for developing, administrating, and supervising the health career programs, hiring, evaluating, and supervising faculty, teaching classes that support the health career programs, and completing reports and other state and local requirements related to the health career programs. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the training programs in order to comply with the criteria established by the regulatory agencies. Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise allied health programs through appropriate local, regional, and state agencies. Recruit, select, advise, evaluate, and dismiss students for the health career programs. Register and orient new health career students. Schedule all health career students into appropriate clinical lab experience. Arrange new clinical facilities as necessary. Visit clinical lab groups once during the semester. Assist completing health career students with the application process for licensure. Schedule and plan graduation and pinning ceremonies for the health career students. Recruit, interview, hire, evaluate, and schedule faculty for health career programs. Schedule all psychiatric technician, nursing, and nurse assistant classes and arrange for instructors. Arrange for substitute instructors as necessary and substitute when no other is available. Prepare an annual budget. ABOUT THE POSITION: Serve as the liaison between affiliating agencies and the college. Hold membership in school committee(s), professional organization(s) and as time permits, public service organization(s). Hold regular faculty meetings. Grant management related to the health career programs. Maintain up to date faculty and student files. Prepare annual reports to the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician (BVNPT). Keep current on Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician (BVNPT), Department of Health Services (DHS), Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and other regulatory agencies rules and regulations. Submit to Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician, Department of Health Services and Board of Registered Nursing information on prospective faculty for approval prior to hiring. Inform Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician of credential status of all Psychiatric Technician faculty. Notify the BVNPT, DHS and BRN when an instructor terminates employment. Schedule visits for the consultants from the various regulatory agencies. Direct the health career programs of the district to accommodate a diverse student population. Assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of materials. Bilingual preferred (but not required). Perform related duties as assigned. ABILITY TO: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Develop and evaluate curriculum. Prepare and deliver lesson plans. Supervise and evaluate staff. Receive, prioritize, and follow assignments with minimal supervision to meet deadlines. Work with granting agencies that could potentially provide additional resources to augment the health career programs. Lead and assume the initiative without close supervision. Assign, monitor, and review the work of others. Appropriately interact with students, staff, faculty, and members of the public. Work effectively with outside agencies. Incorporate the use of technology in performing instructional and non-instructional duties including distance education technologies, on-line class delivery, computerized presentations, and Microsoft Office Suite. Learn, train and supervise personnel in Datatel (information management system) and its components. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A director of a health careers program shall have completed a course or courses offered by an accredited school with instruction in administration, teaching, and curriculum development and shall meet the qualifications of subsection (A) or (B) below: (A). Registered Nurse 1. Hold a current California active license as a Registered Nurse; and 2. Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited school, and 3. Have a minimum of 3 years experience as a registered nurse; one year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combined thereof, in a state accredited or approved registered nursing or vocational pr practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or a minimum of three years experience in nursing administration or nursing education within the last five years. (B). Licensed Psychiatric Technician 1. Hold a current active license as a psychiatric technician; and 2. Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited school, and 3. Have a minimum of 3 years experience as a psychiatric technician; one year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combined thereof, in a state accredited or approved psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or a minimum of three years experience in mental health administration or education within the last five years.
