Operations Manager - Michelham Priory

Cleaning staff, event casuals, brought in operational staff and any operational volunteers. Catering staff
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure the efficient operational running of the physical site and the events programme at the
Priory. To ensure that any projects developed on the site are operationally supported.
To act as duty site manager and oversee site operational management issues
To ensure smooth operational running of the house and gardens
To oversee site security issues
To oversee site maintenance issues and schedules. This ranges from physical and environmental matters through to interpretation resources.
To provide out of hours site management and security cover.
To oversee the work of casual and event staff as required.

To help ensure that relationships with key stakeholders including external partners, the Friends of Michelham Priory, event professionals, outside partners, neighbours, catering groups and wedding and corporate clients are professionally managed.
To ensure that the Mill operates in a safe efficient manner and to act as the lead staff representative for the milling team.
To be the lead officer for quality assurance across the site. To ensure that the physical presentation of the mill, gatehouse, main house, gardens, catering, and barn area are of the highest standard and that all visitor facing operational components of the site are functioning effectively.
To be the lead officer within the staff team for the operational side of the catering department. To oversee quality, ensure adequate staffing levels, ensure food consistency and quality, oversee catering arrangements with catering staff, to ensure bookings are managed effectively.
Periodically to work alongside the CEO and senior staff team within the Sussex
Archaeological Society and to help develop the sustainability and strategic direction of the wider organisation.
To deputise for the Property Director as required.
To provide first aid cover as required.

PERIOD OF APPOINTMENT
Due to the recent business performance of the site the CEO and Trustees have decide to offer this post on a one year basis in the first instance. The continuation of this post will be dependent on the performance of the site and the wider organisation. The evidence for the actual and future business performance of
Michelham Priory and the Society will be clear by December 2012 when a decision will be made in relation to the future of this post.
Terms and Conditions of Employment
Job Title: Operations Manager
1. Full time, fixed term appointment of 12 months duration based on 5 days,
37 hours per week with a lunch break of one hour, unpaid. Anticipated stat date of April 1 st 2012.
2. Salary £ 22,000 per annum paid monthly in arrears.
3. Living on site may be a requirement of this post in which case accommodation will be provided as part of the employment package.
4. During the season (March to end of November) when the property is opened 7 days / week the working pattern will incorporate some week end working. Out of season, the working pattern will be Monday to Friday 9.00 to 17.30.
5. Where agreed extra hours are worked time off in lieu (TOIL) can be taken at a mutually convenient time.
6. There will be a requirement to work on bank holidays in the season.
Double pay or time off in lieu will be given in such cases.

8. 3 months notice required from either party
9. Holidays based on 22 days ( rising to 27 days after 7 years of employment) contractual entitlement and 8.5 bank / public holidays
10. Business mileage reimbursed at 40p/ mile
