CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 and IBEW New England Regional
Committees spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the Rye Town Hilton
in Westchester. On Tuesday, the company presented proposals that
represented minimal movement however all of their major
concessionary demands remain on the table.
The Committee spent most of today going over data provided by the
Company and our research department. Later in the day there were
further off the record discussions on call sharing.
There are no more meetings scheduled for this week and we are
attempting to schedule additional future bargaining sessions.
Our previous report informed you that Verizon Wireless intends to
terminate Local 1109 activist Bianca Cunningham. A rally has been
scheduled on September 10th at 6 p.m. outside the Verizon Wireless
store where Bianca used to work (86th St. between 21st Ave. and Bay
Parkway). At this rally, we will demand that they BRING BACK
BIANCA and that Verizon and Verizon Wireless start to bargain
seriously at all the tables. Please attend this rally in support of your
Union Sister and our fight for fair contracts.
