FALL 2006 schedule of Art Classes The Art School for Children and Young Adults UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON-CLEAR LAKE AROUND THE WORLD – PART ONE This year, The Art School presents a special program that introduces students to art and artists from around the world. We focus on the land, people and artists of Canada, Sweden, the Caribbean, the Hawaiian Islands, Peru, Spain, Poland and Russia. Cultural diversity is revealed through a unique art form from each location. Students in fourth grade and above may draw on selected elements of the study of art from around the world or focus on other artworks to lead them in developing skills and techniques of art production. Enroll your child by carefully checking the preferred class or school location on the attached registration form. THE ART SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS — UHCL offers programs for children and young adults in the Bay Area and sponsors research in visual arts education. Faculty, art teachers and university students work together to provide model art classes at the university and in public school locations. A special focus of the curriculum is the art of the world’s varied cultures and the contributions of major artists. Children are encouraged to progress at their own pace and to acquire skills appropriate to their developmental level. To be removed from the mailing list, call 281-283-3344.
