Turn & Slip and Artificial Horizon
Demonstration Rig
The Turn & Slip Indicator’s needle shows how sharply the aircraft is turning and its
bubble shows whether it is in equilibrium (turning smoothly and accurately). If the
bubble moves to the outside of the turn it is drifting, if to the inside the aircraft may
side slip towardsthe ground.
The Artificial Horizon shows the aircraft’s attitude. If the pilot has no visual reference
because of height or cloud he/she cannot tell if it is diving, climbing or banking.
Movement of the rig shows these instruments working.
