EMS PA State Instructor Certification
Qualifications for Certification
 18 years of age or older
 Has successfully completed an EMS Instructor course approved by the state
 Has successfully completed an EMT Basic course
 Possesses current certification as a EMT, Paramedic, or PHRN
 Possesses current certification in CPR or current certification as a CPR Instructor.
 Possesses at least 1 year experience functioning at the EMT, Paramedic or PHRN
level providing pre-hospital care.
 Demonstrated competencies (20 hours) of monitored instruction by a certified
training institute.


A letter providing documentation of teaching the didactic and
practical skills portion of the curriculum must be submitted
to the regional council for recommendation to become a PA
state Instructor.
If submitted by a training institute, the letter must come from
the training coordinator.
 Once all is completed, contact your regional council for an application for EMS
Instructor.
