EMS PA State Instructor Certification Qualifications for Certification 18 years of age or older Has successfully completed an EMS Instructor course approved by the state Has successfully completed an EMT Basic course Possesses current certification as a EMT, Paramedic, or PHRN Possesses current certification in CPR or current certification as a CPR Instructor. Possesses at least 1 year experience functioning at the EMT, Paramedic or PHRN level providing pre-hospital care. Demonstrated competencies (20 hours) of monitored instruction by a certified training institute. A letter providing documentation of teaching the didactic and practical skills portion of the curriculum must be submitted to the regional council for recommendation to become a PA state Instructor. If submitted by a training institute, the letter must come from the training coordinator. Once all is completed, contact your regional council for an application for EMS Instructor.
