Suggestions for helping your child:
Encourage your child to Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check when doing their
spelling. This will help them learn the word rather than simply copy it.
Try to ensure they have access to a dictionary. This will help them
understand any unknown words and will assist with spelling.
During this term, each child will be given ‘The Wee Book About Life,
Love and Living’ produced by the NHS and Glasgow City Council. This can
be used when discussing SHRE homework tasks with your children.
Encourage your child to practise their times tables. This quick recall will
help them in their maths. There are many games online that they could
use to help them. Try www.bbc.co.uk/schools
When your child is researching from the internet or a book encourage
them to take notes then write what they have found out in their own
words. Discourage them from simply copying the text word for word.
