Behavior Expectations
In my classes I would like to introduce you the three R’s: Be Ready, Respectful, and Responsible. The following chart is how the 3
R’s can be seen in the classroom:
Respectful
Responsible
Ready
*Treat others the way you
would like to be treated
*Be polite and kind to others
*Give everyone their space
*Listen when others speak
*Don’t laugh at others
*Think before you speak
*Have agenda and fill out daily
*Turn in homework on time
*Use materials appropriately and
clean up after self
*Be an active learner
*Get make-up work that you
missed
*Arrive on time
*Be in seat with materials
when bell rings
Discipline
Students who do not display one of the three R’s behavior will be given a verbal warning, if the behavior still continues you will be
asked to sit in the “out of community” seat, if the behavior still continues, you will be having a conversation about expectation with
me. If the behavior continues you will be given a 15 minute detention and a phone call home. The 3rd disruption warrants an office
referral through Power School. If at any time your behavior is extremely disruptive or disrespectful you will be referred directly to
the office with a major referral.
Positive Rewards
When a student is caught doing something great, a pass will be given that can be used for bonus points or homework being excused.
Some restrictions apply to the later statement. Test and projects cannot be excused. We will be using a token system in the classroom
to earn rewards that will be discussed with the students.
Entrance Procedures
Everyday that you as a student come to class, you will need to pick up the materials you will need (written on the smart
board, and be seated when the bell rings. You will always need a sharpened pencil, folder, warm-up, and calculator. We don’t use the
textbooks everyday; check the objectives for the day to see if we are using it that day. Textbooks, folders, warm-ups, and calculators
will be kept on the bookshelf in the front of the classroom by the door.

Homework Policy
When homework is assigned it is due the next day, unless otherwise noted on the objective for the day on the smart board. If the work
is not turned in when it is due an NHI is entered into the grade book and is considered a zero. If there are 2 assignments that have not
been turned in when they are due, you will be given a mandatory tutoring session after school with me. This time is spent working on
the assignment(s) that are missing. If you do not come to the tutoring session I will make a phone call home asking for a parent
conference where we will set up tutoring times that are conducive for the student, parent, and I. Zeros are not permitted. You must
know that I keep in very close contact with parents. I write letters and make phone calls often. I also note all the success you
are having in class. We are a family, and I am here to do whatever I can to help you experience success. If you miss after school
detention consequences will be given by administration. There will be days, usually after a quiz, which you will have free time in
class. If you are missing more than one assignment you will have to work on the assignment(s) and miss out on free time.
CHS planner
Clinton High School provides each student with a planner. The student will use this to write down what they did that day, homework,
due dates and more. Ask to see it. It is a great resource. I will check it at random to see that the students are using them. Bonus
points will be given. Freebies are nice. Take advantage.
Free Time Defined
Free time will be allowed after quizzes to complete homework from other classes.
You may work on a station activity for reinforcement.
You may play a math game or other educational game the computer.
Free time will be purely academic. You will not be allowed to sleep or just have a chat session.
PAPER SACKS
This first semester, please bring 5 paper sacks like you would get at the grocery store. We will be using them for a project. When you
bring them, I will put them away until project time.
Math Help
I will be in Room 114. I will stay after school for any help that is needed if you make an appointment. I will be available
from 3:00-4:00 p.m. daily for questions, homework assistance, or to serve a detention. Because district meetings are needed, an
appointment must be made, ahead of time. A calendar will be posted at the door to let you know when I have after schools meetings
and am not available. You should feel free to come and see me. Information about meetings, holidays, due dates and more are posted
on my calendar on the web page. If you have two assignments that are failing, or not turned in, you will be required to make a
phone call home, and stay with me as arranged, until the work is complete and turned in. In high school, credits are crucial for
your graduation date.
Absences
It is your responsibility to find out what has been missed and to make that work up in an appropriate timely manner. The
work that you miss is in the folder for the day you miss under the sign While You Were Out (to the right as you come in the door.)
When you return, you will need to see me about make-up work.
ParentsIf you need to contact me by phone, please contact the office and leave me a voice mail. In some cases, email is better. I can process
your questions and concerns, while giving you the most complete response possible. If your child is struggling with homework at
home, in tears over a school matter, had a medication change, PLEASE, call me. We will work through it and do what we can to
make the CHS experience a great one. My email is listed above. Please read this with your child and return it signed to me by
September 16, 2014. You child will receive bonus points for having done so. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything. We
are in this together. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to share in your child’s life. It is my honor.
