Asistencia
La asistencia y la participación en el salón de clases son necesarias para el logro de los
objetivos curriculares. Cualquier estudiante que tenga más de seis ausencias en el período
de reporte, recibirá una nota de repruebo. Sin embargo, un estudiante no recibirá la nota de
repruebo por ninguna de las situaciones listadas en el Código de Conducta Estudiantil,
mientras el estudiante recupere las tareas asignadas.
Procedimientos relacionados con la Asistencia
 Los padres/madres deben enviar dentro de tres días siguientes, la excusa de la
ausencia. Si una nota no es entregada, la ausencia se convierte permanentemente
en una ausencia ilegal. La escuela enviará a los padres una “Nota de Ausencia
Ilegal” después de la primera y segunda ausencia sin excusa. Una ausencia sin
excusa sería considerada una ausencia en la cual el estudiante no entregó la nota
de la casa dentro de tres días siguientes.
 Si hay una tercera ausencia sin excusa (la nota no ha sido entregada dentro de los
tres días siguientes), los padres recibirán otra “Nota de Ausencia Ilegal” y una
advertencia de que podría ser responsables en la corte, sin aviso previo de la
escuela. Los padres deberán hacer una cita con los miembros de la escuela y
establecer un Plan de Eliminación de faltas a la escuela.
 Una cuarta ausencia sin excusa (la nota no ha sido entregada dentro de los tres días
siguientes) resultará en una citación emitida por el Magistrado de Distrito, en la cual
los estudiantes deberán aparecer en corte y encarar una posible multa por $300.
Otras consecuencias podrían ocurrir, las cuales serán determinadas por la corte.
 Un(a) estudiante que se ausenta por más de 10 días en un año escolar (ausencias
con o sin excusa) se le requerirá que someta autentificación que la ausencia fue
causada por enfermedad, lesión u hospitalización, carreteras imposibles, por
práctica religiosa o duelo.
Consejos útiles para los Padres con respecto a la Asistencia

Una ausencia sin excusa es una ausencia en la cual el estudiante no ha presentado
una nota de su casa, del doctor, del hospital, de la casa funeraria, de la organización
religiosa, o de la corte, en los 3 días siguientes. La ausencia permanece sin excusa
por siempre.





Una ausencia justificada es una ausencia en la cual el estudiante ha presentado la
nota de su casa, del doctor, del hospital, de la casa funeraria, de la organización
religiosa o de la corte dentro de los tres días siguientes.
Ningún tipo de nota será aceptada después de tres días después de la ausencia. La
nota será regresada a casa con el estudiante.
Si el estudiante tiene más de 10 días de ausencia en el año escolar, las notas
escritas a mano, enviadas de la casa, no serán aceptadas. Si este es el caso, una
nota del hospital, del doctor, del funeral, de la corte, o de la organización religiosa
debe ser presentada dentro de los tres días de la ausencia, por cada ausencia a
partir de ese momento.
Una EA será extendida cuando el estudiante tenga seis o más ausencias sin excusa
dentro del período de reporte de notas (esto incluye el cuarto período de reporte de
notas.
La nota ganada o una ES será extendida cuando el estudiante tenga seis o más
ausencias justificadas dentro del período de reporte de notas. Esto significa que el
estudiante tiene todas las notas requeridas y tiene todas las tareas al día. La política
de asistencia del Distrito es estrictamente seguida por Pittsburgh South Brook 6-8

Recuperación de trabajo
La escuela está obligada a trabajo adicional por una ausencia justificada. Los estudiantes o
sus padres son responsables de pedir el trabajo adicional inmediatamente al regreso del
estudiante a la escuela. Si las fechas en las cuales el estudiante estará ausente son
conocidas con anticipación, el maestro debe ser notificado y las tareas planificadas pueden
ser entregadas.
Salidas Tempranas
Los estudiantes que necesitan salir temprano de la escuela deben seguir los lineamientos
listados a continuación:
 Los padres deben entregar a su hijo(a) una nota con la siguiente información: el
nombre del niño(a), el grado y el homeroom; la razón por la cual desea salir
temprano; el nombre del padre/tutor; y el número de teléfono del padre/tutor, a quien
nosotros debemos poder contactar durante el día escolar. Si un padre/tutor no
puede ser contactado, la salida temprana no será autorizada.
 Los estudiantes deben llevar la nota de la casa, a la oficina principal antes de ir a su
homeroom. El oficinista en la oficina principal llenará un formulario amarillo para la
salida temprana y se lo entregará al estudiante. Después de lo cual el estudiante
regresará a su salón de clases.
 Si un estudiante está previsto a irse durante una hora de clase, el estudiante debe
presentar la nota al profesor, quien la firmará y regresará al estudiante. El estudiante
debe guardar la nota y presentarla a todos los maestros, en todas las clases que
perdió.
 Es la responsabilidad del padre/tutor la de proveer transporte para los estudiantes
quienes saldrán temprano de la escuela. Los padres/tutores quienes estarán
recogiendo a sus hijos(as) deben presentarse directamente a la oficina central y
firmar el nombre del niño(a) en el cuaderno verde de notas, que está encima del
mostrador en la oficina principal. Se espera que los estudiantes hagan todo el
esfuerzo posible para programar las citas con el doctor y con el dentista, en horas
después de clases. Sin embargo, cuando esto no sea posible, se les anima a los
estudiantes a obtener una salida temprana o a venir tarde a la escuela. Los
estudiantes deben asistir el mayor tiempo posible a la escuela durante el día.
Cualquier clase que se haya perdido será tomada como una ausencia. Los
estudiantes deben presentar una nota de la casa o del doctor, explicando dicha
ausencia de lo contrario, será una ausencia sin excusa.
Merodear
Los estudiantes deben abandonar la escuela y sus alrededores inmediatamente después de
clases o cuando las actividades se han terminado. No hay necesidad de dar vueltas antes o
después de la escuela. Las personas que no son estudiantes de la escuela, no pueden estar
en el campus en ningún momento, a menos que se hayan registrado como invitado(a) oficial
en la oficina.
Tardanzas
Se espera que lo que estudiantes lleguen a la escuela puntualmente. Los estudiantes deben
estar en su homeroom a las 8 am. Los estudiantes que se reporten después de las 8 am
deben reportarse a la oficina principal, ahí se les entregará una nota de admisión. Si los
estudiantes no obtienen la nota de admisión, se les marcará como ausentes. Una nota debe
acompañar a los estudiantes que llegan tarde. Las tardanzas excesivas no serán toleradas y
pueden resultar en una remisión al consejero estudiantil.
Cierre de la Escuela
El cierre de la escuela únicamente toma lugar durante circunstancias como un clima
extremo, fallo del equipo mecánico o una crisis pública. La junta escolar y los
administradores están al tanto de las dificultades que pueden ser causadas con un cierre
abrupto de la escuela. Por consiguiente, la escuela no será cerrada a menos que
circunstancias inusuales hayan creado un riesgo de seguridad significativo. Todo medio
práctico es utilizado para notificar a los padres de cualquier cierre, incluyendo radio,
televisión y los periódicos. En la circunstancia inusual cuando la escuela deba ser cerrada
durante un día escolar, los maestros se asegurarán que todos los estudiantes tengan
transporte y supervisión adecuada antes de dejarlos ir.
Rutas de Autobúses y sus operaciones
El departamento de transporte durante sus juntas, planean las rutas y las paradas de los
autobuses. Los padres que deseen hacer solicitudes necesitan contactar al transporte al
teléfono 412.338.8125. Los estudiantes únicamente pueden tomar el autobús al cual han
sido asignados. Los padres no pueden enviar una nota pidiendo que su hijo(a) tome un
autobús diferente durante un día particular.
Código de vestimenta de la escuela
Nosotros nos orgullecemos de la apariencia de nuestros estudiantes. Se espera que todos
los estudiantes se vistan y se arreglen a sí mismos, con vestimentas adecuadas para las
actividades escolares. Los padres deben monitorear la vestimenta de sus hijos(as)
guiándose por los siguientes lineamientos:
 Los pantaloncillos cortos y las faldas deben tener el largo adecuado. Los
pantaloncillos cortos deben ser usado debajo de faldas en todo momento.
 El estómago debe estar cubierto. Tops pegados al cuerpo, sin mangas, con tirantes
delgados o camisas con mangas muy anchas o tipo red, están prohibidas. Los
hombros (para ambos niños y niñas) deben permanecer cubiertos. Ropa de tela
transparente y tops de corte bajo son prohibidos.
 Sandalias son permitidas pero no sandalias para la playa (flip-flops)
 Los pantalones deben usarse a la cintura. La ropa interior no puede ser visible.





La vestimenta que incentiva el uso de drogas/alcohol, armas de fuego, pandillas,
crímenes de odio o el uso de blasfemia son prohibidos.
Sombreros, abrigos, o suéteres no se permiten en los salones de clases. Estos
artículos deben mantenerse en el casillero del estudiante en todo momento. No se
pueden ni cargar ni usar en las clases; de lo contrario, una acción disciplinaria se
implementará.
Pañoletas, bandas elásticas sobre la cabeza o bufandas son prohibidas.
Mochilas incluyendo bolsas pequeñas de nylon, para cargar cualquier cosa, deben
permanecer en el casillero. Las niñas no pueden utilizar dichas bolsas como
carteras.
Las pantuflas, piyamas o pantalones de piyamas están prohibidos.
Enfermedades, Lesiones y Medicamentos
En caso de una enfermedad o una lesión, el estudiante será atendido temporalmente por la
enfermera de la escuela o por algún miembro del personal de la escuela. El personal de la
escuela únicamente proporcionará primeros auxilios. Si un tratamiento médico de
emergencia es necesario, los padres serán contactados. Recuerde, un número telefónico de
emergencias a donde los padres puedan ser contactados y el nombre y el número del doctor
de cabecera de la familia debe estar en los archivos de la escuela. Por favor devuelva el
Formulario de Cuidados en una Emergencia, el cual le fue entregado a Ud. en la oficina
principal. Si un estudiante necesita traer algún medicamento a la escuela, los siguientes
requisitos deben ser cumplidos:
 Debe cargar la etiqueta con el nombre del niño(a), la identificación de la medicina,
las instrucciones de la dosis, el nombre del doctor y la fecha de la receta médica.
 La receta médica debe ser actual.
 Una nota fechada y firmada por el padre/madre y el doctor especificando el nombre
del niño(a), la cantidad de la dosis, los tiempos específicos de la dosis y otras
instrucciones, de ser necesario.
 La medicina se debe dejar en la oficina y será suministrada por la enfermera de la
escuela o por el personal autorizado, en la ausencia de la enfermera. La única
medicina que los estudiantes están permitidos de cargar consigo en la escuela, es el
inhalador para asma. Sin embargo, la oficina tiene que tener una receta médica para
dicho inhalador, en sus archivos. Los medicamentos como los antiácidos, los
calmantes para el dolor, los dulces para la tos, etc. están a la mano y pueden ser
suministrados por la escuela. Sin embargo, la enfermera, quien no está en la
escuela diariamente, es quien puede dispensar estos medicamentos.
Adicionalmente, los padres deben indicar en el Formulario de Cuidados en una
Emergencia si estos medicamentos pueden ser dispensados a sus hijos(as). Por lo
tanto, si su hijo(a) es sensible a malestares estomacales, dolores de cabeza, o
calambres, nosotros le sugerimos que Ud. envíe dichos medicamentos a la escuela
con su hijo(a), siguiendo los lineamientos anteriormente mencionados.
Actividades después de la Escuela
Una variedad de actividades después de la escuela serán presentadas. La información
acerca de cada actividad, será enviada a casa y los estudiantes se podrán registrar en las
actividades de su elección. Notas de permiso son requeridas para la participación en las
actividades, las cuales son entregadas a los estudiantes así como las actividades sean
planeadas y/o anunciadas. Es la responsabilidad del estudiante la de informar con
anticipación a sus padres (no en el mismo día de la actividad) de que se quedarán después
de la escuela. Los padres pueden recoger a sus hijos(as) en la escuela o los estudiantes
pueden tomar el autobús de las actividades a su casa.
Teléfonos Celulares
Los estudiantes tienen permiso de cargar teléfonos celulares en la escuela, pero los
teléfonos celulares no pueden ser usados durante las horas de clase o durante actividades
escolares. El teléfono celular debe permanecer apagado y no debe ser visible. Los teléfonos
celulares deben ser puestos dentro de carteras, bolsillos o bajo llave en los casilleros.
Diferentes consecuencias pueden resultar si lo siguiente sucede:
 El teléfono celular está fuera y está visible para el personal de la escuela.
 El teléfono celular está encendido en la escuela.
 El teléfono celular suena, zumba o vibra en la escuela.
 Los estudiantes envían o reciben mensajes de texto.
 Los estudiantes hacen o reciben una llamada telefónica durante horas de clases o
actividades escolares.
Las consecuencias serán:
 Primer incidente: una advertencia para el estudiante y una llamada a los padres. El
teléfono celular será confiscado y regresado al estudiante al final del día.
 Segundo incidente: el teléfono será confiscado y guardado en la administración. El
padre/madre debe venir a la escuela a recuperar el teléfono celular; el teléfono
celular no será entregado al estudiante.
 Tercer o más incidentes: una suspensión por un día fuera de la escuela será el
resultado. El padre/madre debe venir a la escuela a recuperar el teléfono celular. La
escuela no se hace responsable por teléfonos celulares perdidos, robados o
quebrados. Además, la administración no puede ir a buscar teléfonos celulares
perdidos o robados.
El consejero
Un consejero está disponible para asistir a los estudiantes en caso de tener preguntas,
problemas con la asistencia, exámenes, acerca de sus opciones de carreras, problemas
sociales y situaciones de crisis. Los estudiantes son alentados para hacer uso de estos
profesionales, ya sea hablando con sus maestros de clases o pasando por la oficina central
para hacer una cita.
Casilleros
Al principio del año escolar se asignan los casilleros. El casillero es propiedad de la escuela.
El personal de la escuela puede registrar los casilleros de los estudiantes a cualquier
momento si existe la necesidad, ya sea por razones de seguridad o disciplinarias. Los
estudiantes no tienen que traer otras cosas más que libros, lápices y cuadernos a la
escuela. La escuela no es responsable por artículos de valor olvidados en los casilleros. Si
un candado está siendo usado, entréguele una llave extra o la combinación a su maestro de
clases. Si artículos de valor tienen que ser traídos a la escuela, por favor déjelos en la
oficina principal. Los profesores de homeroom harán la asignación de los casilleros para los
estudiantes y cualquier tipo de cambios, de ser necesarios. Los estudiantes están prohibidos
de cambiar de compañeros o de casillero por cuenta propia.
Maestros sustitutos
Cada estudiante será enseñado periódicamente por un maestro sustituto. La razón más
común por la cual se tiene maestros sustitutos es cuando el maestro regular está
enfermo(a). Sin embargo, los sustitutos son utilizados cuando lo maestros regulares están
ausentes por negocios personales, entrenamiento profesional o por emergencias familiares.
Se espera que los estudiantes sean aún más corteses hacia los maestros sustitutos.
Cualquier mala conducta dentro del salón de clases será tratada inmediatamente.
Teléfono
El teléfono de la oficina es un teléfono para negocios y no debe ser usado por los
estudiantes, con la excepción de una emergencia. Los estudiantes no están permitidos de
utilizar el teléfono para hacer arreglos personales. Por favor, no nos pida que saquemos a
un(a) estudiante de clases.
Involucramiento de los Padres
Padres Voluntarios
Deseamos incrementar el diario involucramiento significativo en la vida de los niños(as) de
Pittsburgh Greenfield. Los padres voluntarios necesitan obtener las autorizaciones ACT
33/34 para trabajar con niños(as). Estos incluyen todos los viajes de campo y cuando
quieran servir de chaperones. La escuela pagará por el costo de estas autorizaciones. Por
favor contacte a la oficina central si Ud. está interesado en convertirse en un padre
voluntario.
Consejo Comunitario de la Escuela de Padres (PSCC por sus siglas en inglés)
La Pittsburgh South Brook 6-8 estará altamente involucrada con la construcción de un
PSCC muy activo. Se les insiste a todos los padres a convertirse en miembros y a participar
muy activamente en este proceso. Las reuniones del PSCC tomarán lugar el tercer Jueves

Conferencias de Padre / Maestro
Se alienta a los padres a organizar conferencias con los maestros y el consejero para
revisar los registros de los estudiantes y su rendimiento académico. Para hacer una cita,
llame a la oficina de la escuela para contactar a la persona deseada. Los visitantes que
vienen por una conferencia deben reportarse directamente a la oficina y firmar la hoja de
registro de visitantes.
Código de Conducta Estudiantil
Los maestros tienen la autoridad y la responsabilidad de mantener la disciplina en el salón
de clases. Las políticas disciplinarias escolares serán establecidas y constantemente
reenforzadas. Cuando un estudiante esté teniendo problemas, el maestro puede tener una
charla con el estudiante, una charla con el padre, hacer uso de los procedimientos
disciplinarios del salón de clases, o referir la situación directamente con el administrador.
Los líderes del equipo y el vicedirector asisten al director con los casos disciplinarios.
Nosotros trabajaremos juntos para asegurar la consistencia de las consecuencias aplicadas
a los diferentes comportamientos. La escuela y el hogar deben trabajar juntos. Amenazas de
ningún tipo hechas contra la escuela, los miembros del personal o los estudiantes, serán
toleradas.
Centro de Aprendizaje Ajustado (LAC por sus siglas en inglés)
El Centro de Aprendizaje Ajustado (LAC) es designado a aquellos estudiantes quienes han
violado las reglas de la escuela of el Código de Conducta Estudiantil. Los estudiantes son
normalmente asignados a pasar el día completo en el LAC. Trabajo significativo será
entregado a los estudiantes para que lo completen. Los estudiantes que no terminen con su
trabajo o se comporten muy mal en cualquier forma mientras estén en el LAC serán
suspendidos de la escuela.

Established in 2005, K.R.U.N.K. has 15 student-members, ages 15-17, who are booked for performances
