Swallow’s Nest News Xiao Qing 1 day old after her 1st surgery Febuary 2008 Xiao Qing four years later “Baby MakeOvers” You see these ads in magazines to lose weight, or change your make up, or get a new hairstyle, etc. Makeovers are supposed to make you feel great, win friends and be successful in life. Here at Swallow’s Nest, we specialize in “Baby Makeovers”. This month, we’d like to share the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos, of several of our babies. It is remarkable what a little of ‘His’ love and lots of baby formula can do for these little ones. First we have LuLu. She comes from Xin Xiang, a city north of Zhengzhou one hour away by train. Her special need is spina-bifida. She had her surgery in November at the Children’s Hospital in Shanghai. The cost was ¥30,000 Yuan, which was raised mostly by email friends in USA. “Thanks for helping save her life!!!!” Next is Zheng Lin. He is registered at the Zhengzhou Orphanage. He has a VSD heart problem, but the doctors tell us it should heal on its own. He is stable and doing well, He almost died in November, but now he is stable and doing well. Another baby, with a more serious heart problem, is this little guy. He was also in the hospital with Zheng Lin. He’ll require surgery when he’s older, possibly in April. He is from Xin Xiang. We are told by others, who work with different ethnic groups, that most likely he is Uygur Chinese (Muslim). Most people in Henan are Han Chinese, notice the larger eyes. We realize that we are only ‘one piece of the puzzle’ in the lives of these children and for that we are thankful. As we allow our Father to make all of us over on the inside, we hope you can see the difference YOU are making as you help US remain in China. This is where we belong and where we are needed. Thanks for EVERYTHING!!!! ”
