Evaluation Pictures of baby animals Matching pictures of mother animals Pictures of a desert, a snow covered land, and a forest. A Vitalist Account (for teachers) Before planning this activity students need to have background knowledge of : Different types of animals Where the animals live Ask students if they could survive without their mothers. Do they think animals can live on their own? Pass out cards with different animals on each one. The baby animals are separated from the mother card. Each child must have his/her own card. Have children go around room and try to find their animal’s mother/child. Once mother and child are found, have them stand in group next to the picture where they believe that is the type of climate the animal lives in. To find out how much they have learned, the next day they will be given a quiz with baby animals to match to their mothers. They then will have to write next to each match what type of climate the animals live in.
