of food, catering and hotel industry will take place. The POLAGRA FOOD
International Fair for Food and Catering Products, the POLAGRA GASTRO

is held under the honourable patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Stanisław
Kalemba.
The scale of the events is mainly evidenced by numbers, but also a truly international nature of the event,
which is attended by almost 1000 exhibitors from 32 countries of the world. The accumulation of several
hundred new market products, thematic events, business meetings and cultures in one exhibition space makes
the arrival to Poznań in September a unique opportunity to be a part of an extraordinary industry melting pot
and to take from it whatever is the most important. The exhibitors from all over the world will bring their new
products to the Fair. They will also include the ones winning the Gold Medal of Międzynarodowe Targi

For years, the September Fair is for many a source of inspiration to continue the business - a clue how
to function better on a national and international level, and how to adapt smoothly to changing economic
conditions. Also this year, extensive cooperation with exhibitors and industry partners results in the fact that
the organizer has announced an interesting programme of events, in which all visitors will certainly find

Tasty start
A delicious block of fair events in Poznań will begin with an extremely tasty epilogue - the TASTES OF REGIONS
Fair that starts on September 21, which is the essence of the Slow Food concept in its pure form. The visitors
to the Fair will be confronted with a feast of flavours straight from a grandma's kitchen. You will also find there
the taste of sourdough bread, home-made lard, or sweets that have nothing to do with unnaturally bright
coloured products that attract us at supermarket's tills. The TASTES OF REGIONS Fair, organized annually
together with the Association of Polish Voivodeships, is a place where traders, restaurateurs or persons
responsible for the provision of retail outlets will have an opportunity to find real culinary delicacies for their
shops and restaurants. It is also an event the primary objective of which is to promote regional, certified food,
which is increasingly often sought and appreciated by end customers.
International environment
The POLAGRA FOOD International Fair for Food and Catering Products is an ideal time and place to create
the foundations of future long-term contacts between professional Fair visitors - distributors and traders and the exhibitors. Above all, POLAGRA FOOD offers a complete overview of the international market offer
in the area of dairy, meat, fruit and vegetable processing industries. There will also be a significant number
of exhibitors from coffee and tea, soft drinks, and sweets industries, offering everything from sugar
to delicacies. Visitors to the Fair may also expect a wide range of olive oil, olives, freeze-dried spices, organic
food and spirits. The organizers will provide a wide range of innovative solutions in the form of new products
presented for the very first time at the Fair. The dairy sector - challenges and opportunities, effects of changes
in law regulations, dynamic evolution of trends and tastes of end customers - these are just some of the topics
in the field of the food industry most important discussions that will be held during this year's edition
of the event. The POLAGRA FOOD International Trade Fair for Food and Catering Products attracts
professionals from both the domestic market and from all over the world. This time as well, the event will
be attended by a large group of representatives of retailer chains, traders, top management representatives,
food wholesalers such as Cash & Carry, as well as the representatives of smaller companies, whose activities
often affect the ultimate success of the product.
2
Meat Technologies Exhibition
As part of the POLAGRA TECH Fair, the latest machines and devices for meat and cold meat industries,
additives, spices, casings and components will be presented. A number of these advanced and highly precise
devices will be admired in the operation, and the visitors will have an opportunity to see the entire process
lines, presenting a complete picture of the processes taking place during production. It is a unique opportunity
to learn about all the benefits of these devices in detail. The most innovative solutions will include meat quality
control devices, scanning machines to optimize the cost of production or the solutions that facilitate automatic
repositioning of meat on a slicer. In addition, four days of the Fair will be a great opportunity to see the 'best
of the best' live - the products awarded with the prestigious MTP Gold Medal. Another interesting event
is the conference entitled "Polish meat industry in the European and global markets" with the participation
of the representatives of government agencies, such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,
Agricultural Market Agency, the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection. The conference will take place as part
of the Forum of Butchers and Cold Meat Manufacturers in Hall 5G on Wednesday, September 25.
What's new in the food industry?
The answer to this question will be found during the Food Processing Technology Exhibition. In Hall
4, the extensive offer will be presented, aimed at, among others, such industries as fruit and vegetable, pasta
or beverage ones, including the 'liquors' industry, and the exhibition will also include measurement and control
equipment, scales, refrigeration, transport, health and safety and pest management devices and technologies.
The exhibition in this Hall will be also rich in many new products, such as freezer tunnel, stem removing device,
ozonation systems, bio-gas plants - these are just a few selected items, which will be exhibited at the Fair
together with hundreds of other innovative products. A number of questions and inconsistencies are brought
by the ongoing work in the European Parliament and in Poland concerning the new legislation on the use
of refrigerants commonly applied in the meat and food industry in refrigeration systems. Everyone interested
in the subject of new legislation is invited to the Consultation Desk, where the answers to bothering questions
will be provided by specialists, for example from the PROZON Foundation for the Preservation of the Ozone
Layer.
Trade fair with the aroma of coffee
The things that attract professionals to the September events in Poznań mostly include an extensive exhibition
offer and new products. The organizers of this year's POLAGRA GASTRO International Trade Fair
for Gastronomy will provide a wide range of innovative solutions in the form of new products presented
for the very first time at the Fair. These are both technical solutions - restaurant kitchen equipment, perfectly
roasted coffee, latest generation espresso machines or convection ovens, as well as a variety of foods needed
for catering.
During this year's sixth edition of the POLAGRA GASTRO Fair, a series of events dedicated to coffee will be held
- a drink without which most of us cannot imagine daily life. POLAGRA GASTRO is famous for exceptional care
3
for coffee sector and for sharing professional knowledge with the industry professionals who visit the event.
Every year autumn at Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie is full of new fresh fruit in the form of juicy workshops
oraz delectable conferences. The smell of freshly roasted coffee of most valued varieties: arabica and robusta
is going to attract the highest level events. On the first day of the fair, an inaugural round of elimination
to the Polish Barista Championship 2014 will take place. It is the first of four battles in which six best players
will be allowed to participate in the Polish finals of the competition next year.
Alternative methods of brewing will be the theme of another edition of the Brewers Cup Championship
of Wielkopolska. We encourage all specialists in brewing coffee with the AeroPress, Chemex and in drip
or siphon brewing to compete for the champion title. Both baristas and observers are invited on the third day
of the fair. This is where the enthusiasts of drinks with a solid dose of caffeine will find that coffee tastes good
even without sugar or milk.
Tea will be also appreciated during the Fair, the professional tasters of which are subject to strict procedures
and even ISO standards when assessing tea grades, also in terms of equipment. There are also principles that
govern the quantity of the brewed tea, proportions, water temperature or time that needs to elapse from
tea brewing to its tasting. This is just a piece of theoretical approach, and practical demonstrations will
be admired starting from September 23 during the First Polish Tea Cup Tasting Championship.
Who will get the Polish Culinary Cup?
The Polish Culinary Cup, taking place in the area of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie simultaneously with
the POLAGRA GASTRO Fair, is an opportunity to come into contact with the tastes offered by the greatest chefs
of young generation. The winners of several Nominated Contests, selected in the entire previous year,
will be assessed in the Semi-final on September 24 by the representatives of the Polish catering industry. They
are represented by such celebrities as for example Jarosław Uściński, the President of the National Association
of Chefs and Confectioners, Zenon Hołubowski, a member of the American Culinary Federation, a certified
judge of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), or Paweł Oszczyk, a prominent chef
of the La Rotisserie restaurant in Warsaw.
A day later, on September 25, those who managed to impress the judges with their culinary skills will continue
to struggle in the Final and will have an opportunity to present themselves in front of the most prominent
representatives of the culinary world. The representatives will include, among others, Gissur Gudmundsson,
the President of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), and Armand Steinmetz, the President
of Vatel Club Luxembourg, the organizer of the Culinary World Cup, in which the Poles have been successfully
participating since 2002.
4
Packaging is essential
The PAKFOOD Fair, held every two years (alternating with the TAROPAK Fair) is the place to present the latest
solutions and at the same time an arena promoting global trends in food packaging technique and technology.
The meeting of exhibitors and their current and prospective customers in such an international environment
is primarily an opportunity for interesting conversations, for example on the ways of building a competitive
advantage through the use of innovative packaging solutions. In addition to an opportunity to meet key market
manufacturers and suppliers of packaging, PAKFOOD Fair visitors will have also an opportunity to participate
in a number of interesting conferences on specialised topics. Among these there are meetings organised
by the Polish Chamber of Packaging that is a self-governing organisation of entrepreneurs bringing together
over 100 manufacturers of packaging. The participants of the seminar entitled "Trends and conditions
for the development of the packaging industry in Poland" (September 23 at 1.30 pm) will learn which factors
determine the development of the industry and the packaging market and get familiar with scientific research
supporting the development of the industry and current issues concerning the legal protection of designs. Also
the seminar entitled "Packaging for food - security and shelf life of the product" (September 25 at 10.30 am),
where representatives of the Chamber are going to discuss requirements for food packaging in view
of law regulations, the role of packaging in shaping the quality, as well as shelf-life extension methods through
the use of active packaging, seems to be interesting.
For hoteliers and others
At the same time and in the same place, the major hotel industry event in Poland will take place - INVEST
HOTEL.
For
the
visitors,
the
organizers
have

is an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the offer
which may significantly improve the quality of their services.

planning to initiate their business, will encounter the latest
technologies and learn how to manage hotel infrastructure
effectively.
