Volunteer Role Description Form Museum, Gallery and Archive Service Title: Visitor Volunteers Purpose: The aim of this public facing voluntary role is to welcome general visitors to the William Morris Gallery and to supervise temporary exhibitions and public galleries. Availability: One day a week from 2 August 2012. Place: William Morris Gallery Volunteer supervisor: Operations Support Officer Supervision: Day to day supervision; review meeting once a year. Suggested Activities: Providing a friendly welcome to everyone who visits the William Morris Gallery, temporary exhibition space and public galleries. Supervising visitors, making sure they have a safe and enjoyable visit Supervising visitors to help maintain security of the original objects on display Giving out information about the William Morris Gallery and visitor facilities. Engaging visitors in conversations about the exhibition and the William Morris Gallery and answering questions. Qualities/skills required: A friendly, approachable manner Able to communicate with people of all ages and abilities Responsible and reliable Observant Good team working and communication References/ Vetting needed: 2 References Proof of identity and address Compulsory Training: Induction will be provided including health and safety, tour of the exhibition, an introduction to the role of invigilator and customer service skills in a museum context.
