It is the goal of the College Counseling Office to develop a program that is inviting and abounding with information on colleges, careers, financial aid, and scholarship. Knowledge that is current and communicated in a variety of ways makes for a complete College/Career Counseling Program.
With this intent, an annual Career Day is a wonderful addition to the Brother
Martin High School College Counseling Program. Every class level participates in
Career Day. A program for 8 th and 9 th grade students and a different program for sophomores, juniors and seniors are held simultaneously.
A special schedule is used on the day of Career Day. Students go to all scheduled classes, for shortened periods of time. Career Day begins at thee completion of second period. When Career Day is complete, students resume their schedule to third period classes.
Each Career Day session is twenty minutes long, and the start and stop of each session is marked with a tone.

All 8 th and 9 th grade students attend two forty-minute sessions during the Career
Day Program.
8 th grade presentations – 1) The Principal, Director of Student Formation, and Alumni Director give a presentation on “The Crusader – past/present/future.” 2) The 8 th grade Guidance Counselor and the College
Counselor compose a session.
9 th grade presentations - 1) “Making High School Count” 2) The 9 th grade
Guidance Counselor and the College Counselor compose a session.
These students have the opportunity to learn about four different careers during the four twenty-minute Career Day sessions. They receive the list of speakers on campus ahead of time and can plan their attendance at each session themselves.
All speakers are typically alumni of Brother Martin High School or the two
Brothers of the Sacred Heart schools that merged to form Brother Martin.
