Relay for Life Yard Sale: Getting Ready To Do List
Raising money to fight cancer!
Where: Newman Elementary School
1147 Central Avenue, Needham MA
When: Sat. May 1 – Rain or Shine
7:30 – 8:30 Set-up
8:30 - Sale starts
1:00 – 2:00 50% off all items
2:00 – 2:30 Clean up
Bargaining is expected.
�Discounts often will close a sale. Ten percent
is a good beginning. Price with this in mind.
� Remind shoppers to come back at 1:00 when
everything will be marked down 50%
� As the item is sold, write the final sales price
on the ticket in red pen
1-3 Weeks before the Sale:
� Gather items for sale in one place for
convenience in pricing.
� Price items and store in one location
(garage or basement)
� For items in good working order, charge
about 20 percent of the original purchase
price.
� Reserve higher prices for antiques,
handmade items or collectibles.
� Price based on the value to the buyer
� Bundle small under $1 items together to
avoid having to handle change.
After the Sale
� All proceeds go to the Relay. The sales will
be entered as an off-line donation on the Relay
website.
� Any leftover items may be brought to the
Goodwill at the Needham Transfer Station.
Day of Sale
� Group similar items together. Use
cardboard boxes to hold small articles, cds,
and books. Stand c/ds and books on edge for
easy flipping.
� Only accept checks if you know the buyer
� Organize clothing by size and set up a rack
on which to hang apparel
