RELEASE NOTES FOR RECORDER 6.16 (02/2011) Contents This release contains an updated Recorder ‘executable’ file to replace your existing version. The file should be unzipped then dropped on top of the existing file to replace it. This upgrade is for both network and standalone versions of Recorder 6. This upgrade must only be run on version 6.15.4. ID Change Description 125 Report Wizard: colons handled appropriately Issue: The report wizard was not treating values containing colons appropriately and causing unhandled errors. This has been particularly problematic when reporting on measurement qualifiers (eg Juvenile:Male) and designations (eg Bird:Amber). Change: Colons in measurement qualifiers and designation are now treated appropriately. Other symbols such as commas, question marks, quotes have also been checked. 180 Full names translation option respected by quick report from taxon dictionary Issue: The following steps did not produce the desired results: Selecting the Full Name translation option in Tools\Options Creating a simple Report Wizard saved report file Using the file by right clicking on a Taxon Dictionary node. The taxon name was translated using the synonym index rather than the NameServer table (which contains the recommended name for each taxon) and was not expanding across the dictionary lists. Change: The NameServer table is now used for the translation. 191 Full names translation respected by export using filter Issue: Using an export filter with the ‘Taxon Groups’ option was producing incomplete exports, even when the Full Name translation option in Tools\Options was selected. This was because the filter used a query based on the synonym index rather than the NameServer table (which contains the recommended name for each taxon). Additionally the query expanded across lists before going down the hierarchy, not after, leading to incomplete exports. Change: The export filter query now expands across taxon lists properly, respecting the full translation option. Taxon Groups has been renamed to ‘Higher Taxa’ on the Export Filters management dialog as this more accurately reflects what it does. 201 Associated taxa in Biotope Dictionary fixed Issue: A number of issues were found with associated taxa and biotopes as listed below: a: Authors had parentheses added b: Did not work for higher taxa c: Did not work if the biotope_key and biotope_list_item_key were not the same - taxa appeared as associated with the wrong biotope. Change: These issues have been amended. ID Change Description 202 Related Data - occurrences for an individual more logical Issue: When viewing the related data for an individual, only occurrences determined by the person were returned. This is not expected behaviour and contradicts the help file. Export to zipped access format – improved performance Issue: There seemed to be an exponential reduction in performance with larger export datasets to the zipped access format. The size of the main database may also have influenced this. Saving a record card without permissions no longer causes crash Issue: Users entering data using a record card without permissions to the record card source folder sometimes prompted an unhandled error when exiting the screen, even if they said no to the question about saving additional taxa. This was because saving of any altered column widths occurred anyway. 204 205 Change: Viewing related data for an individual now returns occurrences which were either recorded and/or determined by the individual. Change: The time required for exporting large datasets has been reduced through addition of primary keys and indexes. Change: Recorder works out if the column widths have changed. The question about saving added taxa has also been changed to encompass card template changes, including column widths, and is only asked if column widths changed or the taxon list changed. Also tests if user has write permissions and informs the user if not.
