Diversity, Community and Predation
Four worksheets are present.
1) Total community. This file has the relative abundance of each taxon collected in each of 16
maize fields. The individual taxon columns are followed by the total number of specimens
collected in the particular field, the number of species collected in each field, the diversity
(Shannon H) of the predator community, the Evenness of the community (J), and the proportion
of predator specimens that were positive for Diabrotica virgifera DNA in their guts. The final
column is the number of pest 3rd instars per plot collected in soil cores.
2) Individual taxa. This worksheet is very similar to the last, except it focuses on the proportion of
individual taxa that are positive for Diabrotica virgifera DNA in their guts in each of the 16 maize
fields. The final columns are duplicates to those found in ‘Total Community’.
3) Chewing predators. This data is a subset of the full community and focuses just on taxa with
chewing mouthparts.
4) Sucking predators. This data is a subset of the full community and focuses just on taxa with
sucking mouthparts, or fluid-feeding predators.
