THE ENDANGERED AND THREATENED ANIMALS OF AFRICA Many animals of the continent of Africa are valuable resources and yet are in danger of becoming extinct. I think a great way to see the tremendous resource as well as the sad potential for disaster is to research many of those species in an informal way. Only a small amount of research is involved and most of the work can be completed at home. Use the school’s media center, public library, classroom, and home resources. Complete the following steps: 1. Choose an endangered animal of Africa. 2. Describe the animal in no more than two paragraphs. Include the animal’s physical characteristics, habitat, lifespan, predators, reproductive habits and reason(s) for its endangered classification. Finally, offer solutions or theories as to ways that this animal can be saved. Write neatly or word process. 3. Show the location of the species on a small map of Africa. 4. Sketch, computerize, or cut out a picture of the animal.
