Previous lessons: Look at the Myths and Legends website (http://myths.e2bn.net) and read an interesting myth or legend. Answer the following questions: What are the main scenes in the story? Who are the main characters? What do they look like? Is the story scary, funny or both? Investigate a local story that is a myth or legend. Use a variety of sources. Learning Objectives (Children should learn): To investigate, plan and write a story about a Myth or Legend. To find appropriate images. Starter Activity: 15 mins Discuss local myths and legends and choose one Activities: 40 mins Introduction – Outline what is to be achieved Checklist: T&L styles (variety) Visual Auditory Kinaesthetic Single/Group work Whole Class – Discuss and record the main points of one chosen local myth or legend. (Teacher led) Thinking Skills Group work – Develop the characters in the story. Describe them in words. Spiritual Moral Social Cultural Multiculturalism Whole Class – Discuss the characters and storyline. Which are the scariest bits? Which bits are funny? Does it have a good or sad ending?
