Leaded by escorting professors (2), Why don’t you make a 13-day stay at laboratories in the three famous universities? You may take lectures of researchers representing internationally, and enjoy research exchanges among your alumni and young researchers. Let’s become a master of presentation! Advanced training to explain your own present research in English will be required. We are expecting you to make a presentation of your present research in the United States. The purpose of this tour is to observe and hear how alumni living their lives as researcher in academic research system. Through this experience you will find a number of things to prepare in order to accumulate overseas career in the near future. Schedule August 8 : Departing from Sapporo to San Francisco August 9-11 : Staying at the University of California, Berkeley (Dr. Hiroshi Nikaido’s lab) August 12 : Departing from San Francisco to Minneapolis August 13-14 : Staying at the University of Minnesota (Dr. Fumiaki Katagiri’s lab) August 15 : Departing from Minneapolis to New York August 16 -18: Staying at the Rockefeller University (Dr. Nam-Hai Chua’s lab) August 19-20 : Departing from New York to Sapporo Object person and head-count of application This program is designed for 6-8 Ph.D. candidates and postdoctoral fellow in Graduate School of Environmental Science and Division of Environmental Resources, Graduate School of Agriculture who wishing to join overseas laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow. Research fields of visiting laboratories University of California, Berkeley (Dr. Hiroshi Nikaido’s lab) : molecular and cell biology University of Minnesota (Dr. Fumiaki Katagiri’s lab) :Plant pathology, Bioinformatics Rockefeller University (Dr. Nam-Hai Chua’s lab) : Plant molecular biology Though this project is planned to visit biological fields, we don’t give preference to Ph.D. candidate of biological field over other fields for selection of participants. We welcome participant from different fields as well. Also we have an alternative plan to support participant who wishing to visit other universities or laboratories nearby during each stay. Participation fees : 250,000(JPY) + food expenses Out of 450,000(JPY) (per person) including Air fares, accommodation fee, local transport expenses, breakfast charge, Graduate School of Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University will cover 200,000-250,000(JPY). Therefore individual payment will be 200,000-250,000(JPY). Expenses of lunch and dinner will be individual payment. Other expenses, such as honorariums to the coordinator, researcher, and escorting professor’s traveling charge, clerical cost will be paid by Graduate School of Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University.
