Laboratory Analyst- Burnaby Trace Metals – ICPOES, CCMS Location: ALS Environmental- Vancouver, BC Reports to: Inorganics Supervisor - Trace Metals or Team Leader About the Position Working as part of the ICP team in the Trace Metals Department, the laboratory analyst is responsible for all aspects of laboratory analysis including production, time management, quality control and turnaround time. Specific Responsibilities Responsibility for ICPOES and CCMS operation following documented specific methods and/or procedures; Perform instrument/equipment calibration, maintenance and repair as required; All AN2 associated duties; Carry out all required work scheduling and planning activities; Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc.; Carry out all required data processing (i.e. calculations, data review, data entry, archival, etc.); www.alsglobal.com Carry out all required record-keeping & documentation; Communicate with the Client Services staff as required; Perform all required quality control procedures; Conduct work following all required safety protocols; Deliver accurate results to our clients in a timely manner; Technical decision making for non-routine, complex analyses or matrices; Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality; Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances; Ability to sit or stand for a full shift; Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks; Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required. About you The ideal candidate would have: B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in Chemistry, or related discipline is required; 1 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory or related field experience is an asset; Trace Metals analysis experience with ICP/MS, CCMS and/or OES required; 1 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory or related field experience is an asset; You would also be: Attention to detail; Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines such a Turnaround Times(TAT) and holding requirements; Proven time management skills; Analytical and process oriented skills with the ability to think critically in ambiguous situations; Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook; Able to work well independently or as part of a team; Committed to excellence and a client focused attitude; Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal). www.alsglobal.com Looking for further details?
