Analyst-Semi-Volatile Instrumentation 12 Month Term Location: ALS Environmental, Waterloo Reports to: Organics Manager Shift: Monday to Friday, 3pm to 11pm About the Position The Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for organic instrumental analysis, including GC/MS and GC/FID. This position will be working with client samples providing analysis of these samples for routine Organic chemistry parameters. Specific Responsibilities Analyze samples for organic chemistry parameters; Organise workload to meet turn-around-times (TAT) and hold times; www.alsglobal.com Ensure the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards; Adhere to strict QA/QC requirements; Data entry and verification; Perform routine maintenance and ensure that GC/MS and/or GC/FID instrumentation is in good working order; Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures; Assist in other sections of the lab as required; Query a work list of samples, create work groups, data entry and data transfers to LIMS system; Work in accordance with safety procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act; Maintain a clean and safe work environment; Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality; Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances; Ability to sit or stand for a full shift; Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks; Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required. About you The ideal candidate would have: Completion of technical diploma or BSc degree in chemistry or related field; 2 or more years of extensive lab experience; Volatile or Semi-Volatile instrumentation or direct experience on alternate instrumentation an asset; You would also be/have: Organized and detail oriented; Highly motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic; Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); Intermediate experience with Excel and Microsoft Word; Ability to work in a team; Ability to work to deadlines. www.alsglobal.com Looking for further details?
