LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY REGULATIONS FOR THE POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES MANAGEMENT (Programme Code CVPT76) These Programme Regulations should be read in conjunction with Regulation XXI and the relevant Module Specifications. Notice of change will be given in subsequent editions of these Regulations. Students should enquire as to the up-to-date position when they need to know this. 1. Structure 1.1 Administrative responsibility for the programme rests with the Department of Civil and Building Engineering. The modules are the responsibility of the Water, Engineering and Development Centre in the Department of Civil and Building Engineering. 1.2 The Programmes are offered as taught programmes at Loughborough University, or by a combination of both teaching at Loughborough University and Distance Learning. 1.3 All modules will be assessed by either coursework and examination or by continuous assessment (details found in module specifications). 1.4 These programmes lead to the awards of the Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), the Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or the Degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Sustainable Infrastructure Services Management. 2. Content 2.1 The modules comprising the Programmes are listed below: The letters (DL) and an asterisk (*) beside the module code indicate modules offered by Distance Learning. Only those modules specified in Section 2.2 can contribute to the Sustainable Infrastructure Services Management programmes. For the award of Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), students must take the following modules: Postgrad Certificate SISM Compulsory modules (One) CVP 201 or CVP251 Optional modules (Choose three) CVP205, CVP209, CVP211, CVP219 or CVP269, CVP 223 or CVP273, CVP227, CVP240/1 or CVP290, BSP020, BSP021 For the award of Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), students must take the following modules: Postgrad Diploma SISM Compulsory modules (Five) CVP201 or CVP251, CVP209, CVP211, CVP 223 or CVP273, CVP227 Optional modules (Choose three) CVP205, CVP206, CVP219 or CVP269, CVP233, CVP240/1 or CVP290, BSP020, BSP021 For the award of Master of Science (MSc), students must take the following modules: MSc SISM Compulsory modules (Six) CVP201 or CVP251, CVP209, CVP211, CVP 223 or CVP273, CVP227, CVP292 or CVP 293 or CVP295 or CVP296 Optional modules (Choose three) CVP205, CVP206, CVP219 or CVP269, CVP233, CVP240/1 or CVP290, BSP020, BSP021 2.4 Module Numbers CVP251, CVP269, CVP273, CVP290, CVP295 and CVP296 are studied by Distance-learning. Some of these (CVP269, CVP273, CVP290, CVP295 and CVP296) are direct alternatives to modules CVP219, CVP223, CVP240/1, CVP292 and CVP293 respectively, which are taught at Loughborough University. Candidates may not study two modules having the same Module Title but taught using different techniques. 2.5 Module Number CVP251 may be studied in place of CVP201. 3. Assessment and award 3.1 Each module in the programme will be assessed and credit awarded in accordance with the levels of achievement specified in Regulation XXI.. 3.2 The eligibility of candidates on the programme for the award of the Degree of Master of Science (MSc), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert)and, where appropriate eligibility for Distinction in the award, will be in accordance with Regulation XXI. 3.3 A Programme Board will meet to consider the marks for assessments and will promulgate a Pass List which will show those candidates who will show the level of the award (i.e. Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or Master of Science (MSc)) and, where appropriate, those obtaining a distinction. 3.4 For candidates who fail a module, reassessment by coursework shall be in accordance Regulation XXI, as determined by the Module Board. 3.5 The maximum mark for a resubmitted Individual Research Project that was referred or failed shall be 50%. 21 May 2008
