The EU in my county
Competition guidelines
This year the European Commission Student media award completion will focus on
the EU at a local level. What difference has the EU made in the area you come from?
Below is list of areas that your article could incorporate. You must include at least
one.

Agriculture and the CAP

Erasmus

Media

Digital agenda

Environmental Protection

European Social Fund

Rural Development

Leader Programme

Infrastructure Projects

TTIP
The winners
There will be five students shortlisted and the winning student will be announced at
the Smedias.
A jury will select the winning article based on the following criteria:

Relevance to the topic

Quality of writing

Originality and creativity

Spelling and grammar
Prizes
The winning student will receive a Smedia, a chance to present/ be interviewed for a
three minute recorded piece in the student’s home place / inspiration for the article.
This clip will be broadcast on Irish TV and the student will be free to use it in their
show reel/ CV & social media.
Rules
“The EU in my county “is a written competition.
Entries must be in English and must not be more than 750 words.
The competition is open to all third level students in Ireland.
Only one entry per student is allowed and the work must be the student’s own.
The deadline for receipt of entries as per the Student Marketing Network rules

1st March - online registration closes.
12th March – deadline for submission of articles to office.
Entries received after the deadline will not be considered.
The European Commission reserves the right to reproduce the submitted articles and
also to broadcast the winner’s Irish TV recording via our social media channels.
