JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE AND FLSA STATUS Job Title: Security Specialist I FLSA* Status: Exempt Non-exempt SECTION 1. JOB SUMMARY Functions as a team member to provide support to the DOE-ORO Survey program for the Office of Safeguards and Security and Emergency Management (OSSEM). Coordinates with other members of the team, facility personnel, Facility Security Officers and federal employees to ensure arrangements are made for documentation distribution, training, access, travel accommodations, and transportation for surveys, audits and assessments at DOE facilities. Travels to DOE facilities to provide subject matter expertise and conduct assessments of DOE Safeguards and Security topic and subtopic areas. Develops detailed comprehensive reports of assessment conclusions and findings. Maintains facility, survey and assessment information in the Safeguards and Security Information Management System (SSIMS). SECTION 2. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain good communications with other team members, facility personnel, Facility Security Officers, and federal employees Prepare letters, plans, and questionnaires for facility surveys and assessments Conducts surveys/assessments of DOE Safeguards and Security (S&S) Topics and subtopics Coordinate travel arrangements for out-of-town surveys Assist in the collection, reproduction, preparation and distribution of facility information Conduct data entry in Safeguards and Security Information Management System (SSIMS) SECTION 3. JOB REQUIREMENTS (1) A bachelor’s degree or (2) an additional five (5) – for a total of ten (10) years of analytical experience in one or more security programs within the scope of Government security surveys. Requires effective oral and written communication skills as well as skills in interpersonal relationships. Must have working knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling Must be able to operate office equipment (e.g., word processor, facsimile machine, copier, and shredder) Requires handling of business sensitive, proprietary, unclassified controlled nuclear information, official use only, and classified matter up to and including Secret-Restricted Data Q clearance or have one that can be immediately reinstated DOE Survey training course certificate from the NTC is highly desirable SECTION 5. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Position requires walking, occasional bending, crouching, stooping, climbing, kneeling, reaching, turning, and twisting.
