Code: FLSA Designation: Pay Grade: Bargaining Unit: 2/04/87 Date of Last Revision: 7/01/93 BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY: Operates automatic photocopier and related copy center machines to prepare, produce, and finish jobs; conducts daily sales transactions of the copy center. TYPICAL JOB DUTIES: Operates automatic photocopier; copies, collates, staples, hot-tape binds, and performs other related actions to a variety of documents; sets up, monitors, and adjusts equipment as required; schedules and prioritizes jobs. Conducts daily sales transactions of copy center; maintains cash drawer, receives payments, and makes change; keeps records and balances of all requests and transactions; empties coin-operated machines; prepares and transports monies for deposit. Performs other clerical and technical tasks related to production copy work (e.g., receives, logs, and delivers jobs; collates, compiles, and staples materials; reviews completed jobs for accuracy, quality, and completeness; cleans and does minor repairs and preventative maintenance on machines and equipment; maintains inventory of supplies; answers telephone, answers patron inquiries; etc.). May train and direct student employees or employees in a lower pay grade in copy center procedures; may participate in training new employees. Performs related duties as required. Copy Center Operator -- page 2 REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Printing Service or other designated supervisor WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposed to paper dust, loud noise, fumes, chemicals, cleaning solutions, and heat; requires light to moderate physical effort to include frequent stooping, standing, bending, and lifting of items up to 50 pounds (e.g., paper cartons); requires on-campus travel. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Education and/or Experience: Six months experience preferred, operating photocopying equipment to include computerized equipment. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Ability to operate automatic/computerized photocopy equipment and other related equipment. 2. Ability to lift 50 pounds. 3. Ability to read (e.g., photocopier operating instructions, work orders), write (e.g. job logs, deposit slips), and accurately follow oral, written, and graphic instructions. 4. Skill in interpersonal communication to effectively communicate with University personnel and public in person and over the telephone (e.g., to explain operating instructions to others, to explain machine malfunctions to service and maintenance personnel). 5. Ability to count money and make change. 6. Ability to perform basic mathematics (e.g., add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions and decimals, and to calculate percentages). 7. Ability to maintain accurate records. 8. Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment. 9. Ability to apply appropriate safety practices.
