Description: A introductory module for Occupational Therapists and OT Students wishing to
enhance their understanding of posture management and standard wheelchair
prescription through the application of ergonomic principles.
Aim:
To provide attendees with a base framework of knowledge and practical skills
for posture management for therapy, with specific application to standard
wheelchair prescriptions.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify key Ergonomic principles
2. Review the application of Activity Analysis for posture management
3. Identify standard/ symmetrical postures
4. Apply posture management to therapy and treatment
5. Identify the Critical Measures for Standard wheelchair prescriptions
6. Identify the components/ anatomy of a standard wheelchair
7. Identify additional concepts for standard wheelchairs, including transport,
funding, governance, documentation, maintenance,
8. Identify a learning structure for future development in Posture Management
& Wheeled Mobility
