Website: www.motivation.org.uk Job Purpose: The primary purpose of this role is to provide clinical support to Motivation’s programmes as part of the Technical Resource Team (TRT). The Regional Clinician will work alongside the TRT, programme and regional teams to support our partners in the delivery of wheelchair service provision in accordance with the World Health Organisation 'Guidelines on the provision of Manual Wheelchairs in less resourced settings'. They will be required to deliver training globally to build the capacity of relevant service personnel; and provide on-going support in order to establish sustainable systems for service delivery. Accountabilities: Programme: To provide clinical input to the programme & regional teams; to ensure the quality of clinical services delivered into all Motivation’s programmes To evaluate current wheelchair service provision in accordance with the WHO guidelines To undertake follow-up activities with regional teams and partners to establish the 8 steps of wheelchair service provision To support capacity development through the identification of training needs and delivery of formal training and mentoring To contribute to the monitoring and evaluation data gathered within Motivation’s programmes To communicate with the Technical Resource Team through their regular team meetings; and with the global Motivation team as appropriate To keep up to date with professional developments within the field of international health and development. Products: To carry out appropriate preparation and modification of Motivation’s product range; working with the support and advice of the technical team. To monitoring and evaluate products in the field; supplying feedback to the Technical Resource Team on clinical, technical and quality control issues. To liaise with the Lead Technical Specialist to ensure up to date knowledge on products and disseminate this as required to the field. Training: To plan and deliver training as required To advise the Programme Team on the planning and management of training To develop clinical capacity within the Global technical resource team; improving the quality and quantity of trainers available to deliver wheelchair training To provide clinical expertise in the development of training modules Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Essential: A relevant professional qualification in Occupational therapy or Physiotherapy Significant knowledge and expertise in the provision of wheelchairs and postural support devices Experience of working with children with cerebral palsy Good verbal and written communication skills The ability to work under own initiative and unsupervised; but also demonstrate the capacity to be a strong team player Good organisational skills to plan and prioritise work efficiently Evidence of effective problem solving Skills in training and presentation The flexibility to travel to other countries as required Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel Desirable: Ideally 5 years post-graduate qualification experience Experience in working alongside health, community and government organisations Experience working in a developing country context.
