Consultant Neurophysiologist
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
Graduate from a recognised medical school AND Saudi Fellowship in Neurology OR Bachelor of
Science AND a higher university degree, e.g. MD or PhD in Physiology
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years post higher qualification training / experience in Neurophysiology in a recognised
center, of which two (2) years must be at Senior Registrar level.
OR
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
Graduate from a recognised medical school AND Saudi Fellowship in Neurology
WITH Sub-specialty certificate in Neurophysiology,
OR
Bachelor of Science AND a higher university degree, e.g. MD or PhD in Physiology
WITH sub-specialty certificate in Neurophysiology
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years post qualification experience in Neurophysiology, of which one (1) must be at
Senior Registrar level.
PERSONAL QUALITIES/SKILLS:
i
Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
ii
Must possess communicative, analytical, manually dexterous and technical skills which are
necessary to carry out duties and responsibilities of his job.
iii
Ability to speak, write and read Arabic and English.

Consultant Neurophysiologist
JOB OUTLINE:
i
To exercise the highest possible standard of patient care according to his clinical privileges
and available resources.
ii
To participate in the training and teaching programme of the hospital.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to:
Head of Neurology.
Subordinate Staff:
(only those for whom the jobholder is directly
responsible)
Senior Registrars, Registrars and Residents.
Essential Collaborative Relationships:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
i
Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the
Medical Staff and those specific to the division.
ii
Provides the highest attainable standard of neurophysiological service.
iii
Carries out full range of clinical duties as assigned by the Head of Neurology in accordance
with individually approved clinical privileges
iv
Participates in the on-call duties as required by the division.
v
Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the Head of Neurology and
Director of Postgraduate and Academic Affairs in planning a programme of career
development for trainees.
vi
Advises the hospital on any new development and trends in the field of neurophysiological
diagnostics.
vii
Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Management
Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable.

Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing
medical education.
ix
Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.

Deputises for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence
of his colleagues.
xi
Serves on hospital committees as requested.
xii
Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to
morbidity and cost effectiveness.
xiii
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge,
skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.
