Work-Related Skills
IT
Throughout my time at Geotechnical Engineering I have become an
experienced user of gINT. I am also familiar with ArcGIS, Petrel and
Sedlog which I used during my undergrad. I am a highly confident user of
all Microsoft applications and a number of email programmes.
Analytical
My work often involves gathering and analysing data, interpreting the
information and making recommendations for my project team. I have
developed these skills throughout both my Undergraduate and Post
Graduate degrees and through complex practical and laboratory
exercises. This has included wire log interpretation, petrophysical and
seismic analysis and business environment & strategic management.
Teamwork
I have been involved in a variety of successful teams at, during my
studies and through my outside interests. During my time at Geotechnical
Engineering and ESG I have been involved in several project teams,
sometimes as the only Engineering Geologist on site, with my
contribution being vital to the success of the individual projects. These
experiences have given me the chance to co-exist within a team/unit
working for a common goal.
Communication I have developed excellent written communication skills through my
academic work. This included a 15,000 word Masters Research project
which has since been published by Lambert Academic Publishing. I also
frequently write reports and present logs of the on field data I collect to
my colleagues and managers at Geotechnical Engineering.
Additional Work Experience
National Youth Service Corps, Lagos State, Nigeria
Nov 2011- Oct 2012
I enrolled and completed a yearlong National Youth Service program in Nigeria. This involved a
three week orientation course and a primary assignment in order to volunteer my time to local
communities, develop my team building skills and the ability to build professional relationships
with people from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Nigeria is of particular to me
due to it thriving Oil and Gas industry and its vast and rich cultural diversity.
