Digital Imaging – Advanced Photography MS. Moore/ Rm 704 Contact Liz Moore at lmoore@slcusd.org/ Digital Imaging has required online participation at www.etcportal.org, This is a second, third, and fourth HYBRID ONLINE year course in digital photography. This is a CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION course; focus will be on building skills for the career environment while developing a professional attitude, designed to introduce and advance photography skills for MBHS students. We will use hands on practice, video, reading, research and collaboration to expand and apply their photo knowledge relating to the use of photography in various careers while developing a path for a lifelong pursuit tin this art form. This class will include photo history, digital camera parts and functions, lighting, importance of resolution and printing techniques along with the principles of photography and the elements and principles of design. The second/third year student will be required to do projects such participate in a photo show, create and update their own website, interact with experts and be involved in contributing to the school community with their photography while compiling a professional portfolio. The California Content Standards for Visual Art & Career Technical Education is the structure of the class. You can find them at http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/index.asp Parents job - Be on the look out for frames that fit an 11x 14” mat that holds an 8x10” photo, one with glass, two without for local shows. Garage sales, Goodwill, thrift stores are all great places to find these at a reasonable cost. We can print as large as 12 x 18” if you find a large frame with mat – 22” x 16”I have mats for 8x10” for students but students are NOT limited to my supplies and can print, mat and frame any larger size. Students are encouraged to use their own digital cameras but the school will loan digital cameras for students to share during semester. Grades: See Powerschool for grades, class dates and assignments Class rules: Are according to the MBHS handbook and as developed together in class. Consent of parent for online participation. Lab open EVERY A day during period 5 for questions, post production of photos or other needed use of machines. Responsibilities: Photo class comes with added responsibility for equipment and student behavior. There are safety issues at stake. Students may not leave class unless they have directly asked Ms. Moore or have the online class participation signed.
