POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Photographer Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified C JOB SUMMARY: Shoots, develops and prints digital photo film, both color and black and white, for all college printed materials. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Takes high quality photographs of College people, places and events using digital camera and equipment. 2. Creates and provides proofsheets and prints for use in College publications, advertising, and display cases using Photoshop. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 20% 3. Maintains all photographic equipment including cameras, lights, tripods, darkroom equipment, etc. 15% 4. Requests appropriate supplies and arrange for color film developing and printing. 10% 5. Schedules appointments for photo sessions and maintains photo file. 6. Coordinates with graphics designer and writers to provide appropriate photos for all college publications. 10% 7. Assigns and monitors work assignments of part-time photography assistant. 10% 5% 8. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school equivalent plus six months in a specialized trade, vocation or business school. EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years. Revised: 06/08 Page 1 of 2 SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Attention to detail is often required to apply basic principles to solutions of a variety of work-related problems. Contribute creative and innovative input in photographic design and composition. Working knowledge of application software and computer hardware necessary in generating the requested photography. Oral and written communication skills to support effective interaction with various levels of the district, faculty, student and general public. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Must be able to record inventory and determine supply needs. 2. Equipment Used: Cameras, lights, tripods, darkroom equipment. 3. Software Used: Photography hardware, software equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require the employee to frequently stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; squat, carry, kneel and push while performing photography responsibilities. Ability to regularly lift objects up to 25 pounds and/or occasionally lift about 50 pounds. Special vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in order to communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, and other members of the organization to request or transmit information, ask questions, get clarification, and exercise tact. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
