Page 1 of 3 CLASSICAL CROSSOVER SENSATION DESTINO BRINGS MUSIC AND ROMANCE TO THE DIANA WORTHAM THEATRE STAGE, FRIDAY APRIL 8 AT 8:00PM The Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place presents the perfect entertainment for a spring evening with a performance by Destino, 8:00pm, Friday, April 8 at the Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place in downtown Asheville. Destino’s award-winning classically trained young tenors –Joey Niceforo, Terance Reddick and Roy Tan – deliver a delightful genre of pop with an opera flair, combining the romance of opera with pop, gospel, and soul selections. Adding elegance and instrumental virtuosity is violinist Rosemary Siemens who has mesmerized audiences the world over with her passionate musicianship. Destino’s “pop opera” style is one currently sweeping the charts with its popularity heightened by musical television shows such as “American Idol” and internationally renowned recording artists such as Destino, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Mario Frangoulis, Russell Watson and Il Divo, all selling millions of CDs worldwide. At the top of this talent is Destino whose current tour and Asheville engagement follow the trio’s high profile performances at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Destino’s Asheville performance is on the heels of its March 2011 iTunes release, Beginning Again, with works ranging from “Ave Maria,” the Beatles’ “Yesterday” and original compositions. In 2008 Destino released its critically acclaimed debut disk, FORTE, a collection of classical and contemporary music, including “Show Me the Way Back to Your Heart” composed and recommended for Destino by Grammy awardwinning songwriter Diane Warren. This release was on the heels of the group’s exclusive engagement at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, and its performances at some of Canada’s renowned summer music festivals. Destino was most recently part of a PBS music special in February 2010, and headlined The Lee Kjelson Memorial “Sounds of Music Series” at Carnegie Hall with The Continuo Arts Treble Chorus & Orchestra in April 2010. The group also performed at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington in 2009. Destino has toured extensively across Canada and the U.S. and performed at a number of private engagements, including Children’s Miracle Network fundraising concerts in Orlando and Las Vegas. Before collaborating as a trio, the three Canadian vocalists of Destino were in established solo careers, performing pop, opera, gospel, R&B, soul, jazz, and musical theater. One of the original “Canadian Tenors,” Joey Niceforo has performed in operas across Canada, the United States, Italy and the Czech Republic. Insight Magazine says, "Joey Niceforo has one of the most robust and exciting voices I've heard in a long time. He's riveting on stage..." Terance Reddick, a Boston Conservatory trained vocalist, has performed in large scale productions from Las Vegas to New York, including the lead in the The Big Apple’s world renowned Radio City Christmas Spectacular. And Roy Tan, who also acts as the pianist and arranger for Destino, has performed extensively throughout Canada and the United States in varying musical genres including pop, gospel, jazz, and contemporary. Joining the three tenors is Rosemary Siemens, whose diverse talents and improvisational skills have lead to countless performance opportunities, including debuting a combined hip-hop/classical concert at Carnegie Hall and playing as the first instrumentalist ever at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.
