With this system, teams are able to train in formations of pairs and foursomes in all aspects of the operational mission. The sessions are fully supervised by flight instructors, who are able to take a central part in the training process. The system enables integration with other training systems, such as trainers for UAV operators and ground forces. The system also enables to connect various training centers that are geographically separated by using standard interfaces with minimum transport delay between sites. The systems' high quality and its near to eye visual capability allows training sorties onboard the trainers, instead of the fighter jets, thus allowing maximum use of existing resources. In July 2009 Elbit Systems announced that it was awarded a contract from the Israeli Ministry of Defense for the establishment of a mission training center for the Israeli Air Force's (IAF) pilots of F-16C/D and F-16I fighter aircraft, in a project valued at approximately $55 million. This new mission training center marks a significant breakthrough in the operational training sector, as it enables training in various mission scenarios in varying war zones and in the relevant threat environment of each war zone, a new training capability which has not yet been available to the IAF. Elbit is responsible for the production, maintenance and operational of the MTC throughout the whole lifetime of the center. The Mission Training Center is based on Elbit Systems BEST – Battlefield Enhanced simulation & training infrastructure. "Tzofit" (Beechcraft King Air B200) Training Center In June 2009, Elbit Systems inaugurated the Beechcraft King Air B200 "Tzofit" training center for Israeli Air Force (IAF) pilots. Elbit Systems serves as the project's prime contractor, while Mechtronix (Canada) serves as a subcontractor. The trainer is licensed for FAA Level D for commercial training. The center operates through a PFI (Private Financing Initiative) program, with Elbit Systems providing the IAF with a turnkey solution, including the establishment of the training center, operation, simulator supply, training services and maintenance for a 10-year period. The new training center is consistent with the growing trend of defense forces worldwide to privatize non-combat operations by outsourcing to capable defense industries. As the IAF's pilots train in the facility, Elbit Systems is planning an extensive training program that also will include civil aviation pilots, both from Israel and from abroad. TARGO™ - Helmet Mounted Avionics (HMA) Solution for Trainers The TARGO™ HMA solution for Trainers, developed and produced by Elbit Systems, is part of a new product family that implements "Helmet Mounted Avionics" (HMA) technology, designed to be utilized at any required level of integration.. EVA - Embedded Virtual Avionics for Trainer Aircraft EVA, a legacy of BVR, can be installed on basic or advanced trainer aircraft, transforming the aircraft into a virtual advanced fighter while maintaining the hourly training costs of a trainer. The EVA virtual avionics suite is designed to shorten the large training gap which exists today between trainer and modern fighter aircraft. EVA is manufactured in a minimal integration configuration, thus cutting integration costs within the aircraft virtually to zero. Virtual Mission Training System (VMTS) Elbit Systems' VMTS provides realistic training at a reduced cost in a fighter-like environment. It simulates via data link an unclassified, mechanically scanned tactical radar that provides air-to-air and air-to-ground modes as well as simulated weapons and simulated electronic warfare. These functions can be networked between the participant aircraft and the instructor ground station that controls the mission presentation. The VMTS was recently selected by Boeing for the U.S. Navy’s T-45 Goshawk Virtual Mission Training. VMTS allows the T-45 aircraft to simulate the use of radar and weapons against virtual aircraft while in flight as well as cooperate with other real and virtual aircraft. In Flight Electronic Warfare Simulator (IFEWS) The IFEWS, a legacy of BVR, is a complete, autonomous, on-board threatenvironment training and safety suite, capable of simulating the EW suite and virtual threats range. The IFEWS on-board simulation system maintains a virtual range of ground, naval and airborne threats. During flight, the virtual and the real threats are presented to the pilot through the real or simulated EW suite. Threats are placed on the terrain and behave according to smart doctrines and aircraft actions (maneuver, decoys dispensing etc.) The IFEWS standard package consists of the IFEWS airborne unit and the IFEWS PC ground station, enhancing the training cycle with powerful exercise preparation, planning and debriefing capabilities. IFEWS is operational in leading air-forces and improves the pilot's operational capabilities while significantly reducing the EW training costs. Live Training System for Air Defense This system is an innovative live training solution, a legacy of BVR, which is integrated on various Short and Medium Range Air Defense systems. The Live Training system provides networked and distributed mission training to air defense operators in the field by creating realistic battlespace conditions, including both live and virtual participants. The system is a multi-level training system, allowing training of air defense forces from operator to battalion level, in scenarios constructed from pure virtual threats, through scenarios involving real aircraft fitted with the EHUD® ACMI system and the IFEWS, to hybrid scenarios involving both real and virtual threats. Interoperability with the NCMI, as well as with EHUD® and IFEWS, allows Joint Force training capabilities. The Live Training system can be interfaced with the Air Defense Simulator (ADS), thus featuring virtual and live combined training. Air Defense Simulator (ADS) The ADS, another BVR legacy system, enables the training of air defense personnel in the operation of various Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) weapons as well as training of air defense Command and Control functions. The ADS consists of a high-end graphical display system projected over multiple domes, each enabling the mounting of various SHORAD weapons. The simulator administration is conducted using dedicated instructor stations and a debriefing auditorium. The ADS allows trainees to operate realistic mockups of the SHORAD weapon systems within a simulated training environment projected on the domes, and all trainees' actions are monitored and analyzed. The ADS also features high end debriefing aids including advanced analysis and scoring capabilities.
