Descripción de la clase (Course Description):
Spanish 3 is a continuation of the study of Spanish grammar, as well as communication and culture. This year we will strive
to speak more fluently and read Spanish at a higher level. You are expected to use intermediate-advanced speaking and
writing functions, and read for understanding.
You will be required to be an active class participant everyday by: being attentive, taking notes, participating in oral
dialogues, and completing projects and assignments. There will also be oral and written exams and quizzes that correspond
to each unit in the textbook, as well as the supplemental material that I teach (cultural holidays and customs, additional
grammar, etc.).
Prerequisites: “C” average in Spanish 2
Length of Course: Full Year

In addition to your textbook, you need to bring these items with you EVERYDAY, unless told otherwise:
o 1 1-Subject notebook or a binder (preferred)
o Writing utensil
o Homework (when assigned)

Las Reglas (Expectations):
1. Treat others with respect.
a. Do not talk when another person is talking.
b. Laughing at or mocking others will not be tolerated.
c. Keep hands, feet, and materials to yourself. DO NOT touch or remove classroom decorations.
d. Respect me by attending my class, participating, and putting forth your best effort.
e. Profanity, threats, inappropriate comments/ gestures, and fighting will not be tolerated.
2. Come to class prepared and ready to learn.
a. Be on time for class. If you are not in your seat, quiet, and writing down the warm-up when the bell rings,
you are considered TARDY!
b. Do not use your cell phone, iPod, or any other electronic device not needed for the course in my class. If I
see it, I confiscate it and bring it to the office—as per school district policy.
c. Every day, unless told otherwise, you must bring: your textbook your notebook, a writing utensil, and any
homework assigned for that day.
d. Have all homework completed the day it is due. (I DO NOT accept late homework- no exceptions!)
e. Study for exams and be prepared for projects. (Practice vocabulary, review your notes, and do your
homework daily!)
f. YOU are responsible for missed assignments/tests. (See “Attendance.”)
g. You may only use the hall pass 2 times per nine week period. You can use it during the last fifteen
minutes of class. You must sign your name, destination, and the times in and out using the “Hall Pass
Binder” on the table next to my desk.
3. Cheating will not be tolerated.
a. This means NO: electronic translators, plagiarism, using someone else’s work, “cheat sheets,” etc.
b. Letting someone copy your work, (including homework, assessments, etc.), is still considered cheating!
Likewise, DOING someone’s work is cheating. All students involved in ANY cheating scenario will
receive an automatic 0.
c. Cheating on ANY assessment--including projects and tests-- will also result in an automatic zero.
4. NO eating or drinking in class, unless told otherwise.
a. This includes candy, snacks, and drinks. A doctor’s excuse must be provided for students with special
circumstances who may need to eat or drink in class.
La Asistencia (Attendance):
If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to find out what you missed. Do not interrupt another class to find out
what you missed.
A. Find out either the night before (or the day you’re absent)
OR
B. The morning you return
The day you’re absent or the day before you return:
1. Check my webpage and online test calendar.
2. Print and complete all assignments that were listed.
The morning you return:
1. Come to my room before school starts, and check the ABSENTEE BIN for the materials you missed.
2. Check the test calendar bulletin board for new exam dates.
3. Turn in anything that was due to the INBOX.
La Tarea (Homework):
o Homework will be assigned daily. Sometimes your assignment will be a written assignment, while others it will
be to review/study vocabulary or grammatical concepts.
o Homework will be checked for completion and/or correctness at my discretion. Other times, it will not be
checked, but reviewed in class.
o I will NOT accept late homework. Your homework must be in the classroom with you when you enter.
o Cheating on homework, (i.e.: copying someone’s assignment or letting someone copy yours), will result in a 0.
When you are absent, will you have the number of days you missed to make up the assignment, per school district policy. If
you do not turn it in within your allotted amount of days, you will receive a 0—no exceptions!
***WARNING: If you are absent the day of a test, but you were in class when the test was originally announced, you are
STILL responsible for taking it upon your return. Likewise, if you’re absent the day BEFORE a test, but you were here
when it was originally announced, you will be responsible for taking it when you return.

Grades are calculated according to the District Grading Scale:
A= 93-100
B= 84-92
C= 75-83
D= 65-74
F= Below 65
