YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO USE ANY CALCULATOR WITH AN ALPHABET PAD (PROGRAMMABLE OR GRAPHING CALCULATORS) FOR QUIZZES. Having more than one absence from lab meetings will be grounds for failing the course, at the discretion of the instructor. Weekly quizzes will be given the first 15 minutes of class. Quizzes will cover all material on the experiment being turned in and will cover experimental procedures of the experiment being done that day. There will be no make-up quizzes. The lowest quiz will be dropped at the end of the quarter. Laboratory write-ups and pre-lab assignments are due at the beginning of class the week following completion of the experiment. Late pre-lab assignments will not be accepted. Late reports will lose credit at the rate of 10% per day and will not be accepted more than one week late. The department has no provision for making up missed experiments unless it is done the week the experiment is scheduled. A student cannot attend another lab section without written authorization from his/her instructor. Academic honesty and integrity are expected of all students at all times. University procedures with respect to probation, suspension, or expulsion will be followed in cases of cheating. See the University Catalog for details of this. The instructor is available during posted office hours for student help. Graduate Teaching Associates are available in the Solutions Room during posted hours. Contact your instructor if you need to arrange another time. Study procedure: It is recommended that you do the laboratory write-up the same day you do the experiment as the information is fresh in your mind. You should expect to spend 2-3 hours out of class each week on your laboratory write-up and on preparation for the experiment for the next week. NOTE: If you attend the first day of a lab class and are checked into a locker drawer and then decide either to not officially add the class or to drop the class, you must return to the Chemistry Department Stockroom to be checked out of the locker drawer. Failure to check out will result in the assessment of a $15 check out fee and a hold on your registration until it is paid.
