Dear friends,
I have the pleasure to welcome in our north capital the participants, organizers and
visitors of the World Stamp Exhibition “Saint-Petersburg 2007” dedicated to the 150th
anniversary of the first national Russian postage stamp issue.
It is the grate honour and responsibility for us to receive on Neva riversides the
representatives of the multimillion community of the planet philatelists. Our city has been and is
an advanced post of the national philatelic culture development.
This forum is held in the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications. Just here,
within the precincts of one of the most beautiful buildings of Saint-Petersburg, the former palace
of the chancellor A.A. Bezborodko, the unique collection of the national postage stamps is kept.
And quite near, in our Central Post Office, according to the tradition the special cancellation of
stamps and envelopes being issued in Russia to the jubilee dates is organized.
I am sure that at the Petersburg forum you will find faithful like-minded persons and
friends keen on one of the most popular forms of collecting, you will learn also about all the
newest achievements of the international philately.
I wish to the participants, organizers and visitors of the World Stamp Exhibition
