Japan Society for the Promotion of Science
Advanced Courses on Nano-Science
~The first HOPE Meeting~
1. OUTLINE
Both advancing scientific research and building a science and technology
community in the Asia-Pacific will be predicated upon fostering talented young
researchers in the region. Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS),
which is one of Japan’s major funding agencies, will hold HOPE Meetings to
provide opportunities for excellent graduate students from the region to build
networks and to engage in face-to-face exchanges with Nobel laureates and other
eminent researchers working on the leading edge of science around the world.
In the context of this program, HOPE has a dual meaning: expectation that the
young researchers will go on to play highly contributive roles in advancing science,
and optimism that their generation will build a robust S&T community in the
Asia-Pacific region.
